polini has the weak asso piston, which is known for cracking as a connection pin eye to skirt is missing on one side. Beside that, its still the technical 80ies port layout (...) so easy answer: malossi sport Not only cause of non cracking piston, also new 2014 design. Checkout my other guides about it

It would be interesting to have more details on how to make the exhaust port larger... (same shape, top and bottom equal) do you just widen the sides or do you also check if the piston at the BDC is at the same level ? I heard that someone lowers the port under that level of ca. 1 mm more... do not understand why....

Hey dude, sorry for bothering again but I the more I am watching your videos, the more questions are coming into my mind... It's great thing isn't it :P --- 1) from my measurements, with 60mm stroke, the piston at the BDC sits 1mm lower than the exhaust port! Could this be a problem? should lower the port? 2) with these changes in timings, do you recommend a different gear ratio? Malossi manual suggests a 24/63 for the 210 in 57 stroke (px200 original is 23/65) but... do you think shorter is better?

  • @FreakMoPed8

Thanks for the video Mr Freak! So basically If I want to upgrade my Malossi SPORT from 57 (210) to 60 (221), I have just to put the 60 crankshaft and a 2 mm base under the head? I've not understood why 2 mm and not 60-57=3mm ... Moreover, don't you think that 1,5 + 1,5 (top and bottom of cylinder) would be better for maintaining the port position as designed by malossi? big thanks!

to my knowledge when you take the PORTMAP with the paper, you actually measuring the length of the ARC. However the 63% has to be referred to the CHORD of that arc. If you are going to make it 43,5mm - it is ca. 59% (chord is 40,6mm); for having the 63% you have to enlarge the port to ca. 47mm (chord would be 43,5mm then) [see Gordon Jennings - Tuning Handbook]
