I really feel for the squatter/homeless person. You can only imagine how terrified they must be, having nowhere to live but a creepy, damp and decaying abandoned school. I would be absolutely on edge 24/7 and he's probably all alone with not a soul in the world. I think maybe if this happens again, you can announce your presence or if there's not a chance for that, apologise and say "I'm not going to hurt you, just exploring" something so simple could help the man a lot

I understand your point of not scaring someone, as these places are desolate and dangerous, which put everyone on edge. Although i've seen too many of these videos to tell it's not a good idea to announce your presence because you never know who you might find and if they're good or bad people. Last video I saw was about a man threatening 2 explorers, who luckily never got to find said man face to face, he wasn't amused with their presence to say the least. I feel it's hard to know if you should or not let others nearby know you're there, it's too dangerous in general tbh

I can't help but imagine what the guy who was posted up in that room was thinking! That dude was equally as terrified at encountering someone waltzing into his sleeping spot in the middle of the night. They both scared the living shit out of each other! lol Probably behind those curtains not knowing what to do and just screamed bloody murder in the fight or flight moment! Really glad for Chris that they didn't react with physical force. That was a super vulnerable situation!

My first thought also. Worth a moment's pause and thought for how someone ends up in that dreadful situation, I'm sure it's not a happy story, and as you said I'm sure he was equally if not more terrified. Maybe Chris should pop back and leave him a few sandwiches and supplies during the day :)

I agree. If you encounter a keep-out sign, obvious curtains or other signs of habitation, it's always best to either a) walk away; b) announce your presence and walk away "Hey, I'm just passing though. I'm sorry for disturbing you."; c) ask if they want to talk "Anybody home? I'm filming a documentary. I don't want to disturb you. If you want to talk though, you can talk to me. I don't mean you any harm." It can be really scary living alone in an abandoned building, because there are people out there who beat up homeless people for entertainment, who kill homeless people because it's easy to get away with, etc. There are bad people living on the street who will murder and rob people who aren't careful. And a lot of homeless people can't call for help. Some of them have mental illness, some of them are drug addicts. And a lot of them, even if they did call the police, and even if the police actually showed up, probably all that would happen is the homeless person would be arrested for vagrancy, trespassing, substance abuse, and whatever else they could think of. So a lot of them feel they have no one to call if things get hard. It's a really scary feeling to be alone and think nobody cares.

There’s never been a more aptly named video. That encounter was absolutely terrifying and it’ll make jump scares look lame from now on. Chris now has the two biggest “Heart Attack Moments” with this and the propped up dummy. That top 10 list would also include the person sitting in pitch black darkness with his back turned to him in another terror filled video. Chris you are absolutely incredible going inside this place by yourself at that time of the morning ive been watching you're videos and you explore some really creepy places and get awesome footage but it would be nice if you had someone there with you just for safety reasons.Just always remember if you hear something its more likely someone is hearing you and possibly watching you these abandoned buildings are notorious for homeless and other individuals like the guy who yelled out to you like a maniac when you pulled that cloth back but you seem like a really smart impressive guy just continue to explore safely and masks are always a good thing to wear in those decaying buildings, best wishes buddy.
