VERY QUIET GENERATOR SILENT BACKUP DIESEL GENERATOR.

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

There is no such thing as a silent generator that uses an internal combustion engine. I do understand that the quieter the better. This is a video of my generator and or genset that is very quiet. There are many reasons why you would wan't a silent generator. I know this video offers very little information to most emergency generator owners but may give some ideas on making your generator silent or quiet. SAFETY is my number one concern. Please use common sense when modifying or enclosing your generator.

    I love your set up. I'm at the retreat in Tennessee getting water to the house but if we stay I'm definitely getting a better generator. Since I have a 500 gallon propane tank (and plan to install another one) I think I'll go in the direction of a gen set with a propane adapter. Thanks for the video, always a pleasure to stop by and see what your up to.

    So cool to have you and your videos back. I hope you will put up a video when the sun is high in the sky and you receive some serious wattage. Just been curious as to how much you really get on your new system.

    Something tells me that your money doesn't go to drinking, gambling, or an ex wife. Great setup. I knew that was a marine gen set as soon as I saw the raw water pump. Lets see the battery bank, charge controllers, pure sine wave inverters, transfer switches. Nah, forget it. I'll just get jealous.

    If i only had a few hundred to spend and wanted to test solar, but wanted to expand later, how would you recommend getting started? i was hoping for a 200-500 watts with some kind of grid tie, for my indoor plant lights? i've got about 500watts worth of lighting or so running at a time over a 24h period.

    Very nice, is that an 1,800 RPM generator? I have a 4 CYL 20KW CAT which is fairly quiet save that it's in my detached garage. On a quiet night, you can hear the machinery noise about 200; away. You definitely win the quiet award.

    Sweet little diesel. I still say they could make a three cyl diesel run in a small car and get some awesome MPG's But it's obvious they don't won't use to get to good a MPG.

    The water does a very good job of removing the heat and scrubing the diesel smell. I have noticed a slight smell when under full load but we have lots of wind here. Thanks for watching...

    yep, a Isuzu motor and a Stamford alternator, change the oil and filters often (less then 200 hours between) and keep good fuel going to it it will last forever. seen a 20 kw with the same setup (just bigger) go over 31,000 hours before it lost a piston. and your running red diesel, same thing as clear, just dose not have road tax on it.. you saying you get your fuel from the airport? are your running JET-A? it's a little harder on the pump it will run it also, there is a way you can tap off the cooling system and run hot coolant though a loop in your hot water heater and have liquid lava water..

    what kinda spare parts do you keep on hand in the event that you would have to run the gen. for a extended period of time ?

  • @OBXSOLWIND

    @OBXSOLWIND

    That is a great question. The manual has a chapter on this "critical applications" The spare parts I keep are Diodes, Non drive end bearings, Voltage regulators, Impellers "for the raw water pump" and plenty of filters and oil. Hope that answered your question..

  • @marvinmcconoughey3547

    1. Larger muffler 2. Lower RPM, though less power 3. Thicker oil 4. High temperature resistant rubber bumpers between fins. 5. Sound insulated cover over engine--leave holes for cooling--still helps 6. Tighter than stock valve clearances--risk involved but worked on old car I once had 7. Thick rubber gasket between rocker arm cover and cylinder head. 8. Sound insulation over fan cover and rocker arm cover--not much risk. 9. Plate piston with tin or lead one or two thousandths thick. 10. Vertical sound board between engine and ears. Good for driver, not much value for neighbors 11 Direct muffler outlet away from ears. 12. Rubber mount engine. 13. Doing most of the above will make a detectable difference even when individual measures appear undetectable.

    HERE I THOUGHT I WOULD HEAR A SILENT RUNNING GENERATOR!!!, LIKE THE HEADING STATED! BUT INSTEAD IT WAS A LOUD NOISY GENERATOR ENLOSED IN A INSULATED SOUND DEADING ROOM!!! WE ALL KNOW HOW TO MAKE A QUIET ROOM!!!!!! OR RUN EXHAUST INTO WATER OR UNDER GROUND! NON- OF THAT MAKES THE ENGINE NOISE LOWER!!!! NEXT TIME BE HONEST IN YOUR HEADING! STATE: ( HOW I BUILT A QUIET ROOM FOR MY LOUD GENERATOR!!!!!!!!!!!!! ) GEEE!!!!!!
