You really need a 2nd pass with a robotic arm holding a grinder that smooths all the layer lines so that it looks like a poured concrete product. The layer lines have some charm, but it's really limiting as an aesthetic. This will generate a lot of messy dust, but you can do it in an enclosed area with ventilation to mitigate. The end result will look much better.

It is harder than it sounds. There have been many experiments to get this done. It is possible of course, from grinding, to milling, smoothing, wetting, etc. Also, you can work with the lines to make it more appealing - such as this: www.linkedin.com/posts/vertico3d_vertico-design-architecture-activity-6779463603365003264-nj26

If you use a sliding form on the side of the nozzle you might get a better finish. I think this part of 3d printing is a big issue that has not been overcome. I am looking into making concrete moulds from a 3d printer to manufacture block and or cast in place concrete elements. It gives me much more control over the asthetic. Your robotic arms might do well in this application.

Hey Chris, the sliding forms on the side of the nozzle have been tested often. There are many videos where you will see them. They can help, unfortunately they do no not het rid of the problem completely. Additionally, when you use them you have to rotate your nozzle in the direction of the print, this is an added complication. Using a round nozzle means you can corner without rotating. If you are interested in purchasing our solution, please email us: info@vertico3d.com

Hey, we are still discovering where the greatest potential of the technology lies. Currently, the advantages of 3D printing in general, such as form freedom, are already being used. Check out our projects so far - www.vertico.xyz/projects
