Love this dude! That's where I'm at right now training wise that Im done with college ball. I had a huge sports background and am pretty elastic, but my absolute strength is super average. Never made much gains bc I had so much fatigue from bball day to day 9 months out of the year. I was like 6'6 200lbs with a 285lb squat (and could eastbay with a 36.5in vert) and now my squat is at 315 with a 38in vert and both are slowly climbing. Absolute strength is huge.

This is Awesome!! Thank you Peyton for this great advice and instruction. I have turned my athletes on to your page. I'm the weight coach out here in Arco, Idaho. Great to have some amazing examples locally with you and your brother showing what hard work and consistency can do for our youth!! Thank you so much!!👊

hey Man, you got a new subscriber! anyway so your strength program is basically the conjugate westside ? so you have your heavy and light day for each upper and lower body day so that equal 4 days a week? is that where you gain biggest bro?

Thats what I did for about a year! For me personally that’s what helped the most at that time. My training changes but the principles of increasing relative strength and continuing to jump stay the same! I appreciate it.

Love the video ❤. I started my dunking journey almost a month ago and bought a strength program. Im very confused on should i do plyometrics also? Or superset my workouts with plyo or no plyo at all. I would be super happy if you could reply thanks anyways

The most important thing is jumping! The weight training is complementary to jumping and sprinting. If you can increase your absolute strength while continuing to practice dunking you will likely see great results.

@@ImE4st well rest is the best medicine. The knees over toes guy has some practical advice as to strengthening the lower legs to prevent pain and injury. THP strength as well talks a lot about isometrics to build ligament and tendon health. If you have lots of pain now I would suggest getting some recovery and then working on gradually increasing strength in the knees alongside a steady increase in jump/sprint volume until there is no pain. A good diet and healthy sleep pattern will do wonders as well!

Also note that some of this is due to genetic changes as the body grows and develops from your freshman year to adulthood. But you took the right approaches and got the results because of your work as well. If you haven't already look into PJF Performance, THP Strength, etc supports a lot of what you talked about here. Also fun to see that LDS Church gym! :D

@@peytonbair I am pretty sure you gave Gatlin a head start in his development due to your activities and your sharing of knowledge. The same is probably true of Jakob Ingebrigsten's progress as his father and two older brothers helped him become a world record holder. Are there more brothers and sisters in the family who are in to athletics? I worked at Kimberly Middle and High School one year as a bilingual resource specialist and I lived in Burley for a few months in 2020. I don't know about Burley but Kimberly residents seem to have a great fondness for athletic activities and sports.
