Besides Verstappen being very good/fast and his car being very fast, it is also the mental state of other driverss. Before one meter has been driven a little voice inntheir head says that they will be fighting for 2nd. Regardless how minute, such thoughts limit them and give an advantage to Verstappen.

Best driver in the best car. Max displays a consistency that never has been seen in F1 history. He makes no errors and leaves nothing on the table. The only moments others can win is when he has car issues. The only ones who can make things less boring is other teams and other drivers. Make a car that is better then the RB20 and for the drivers to,put in the time and effort Max puts into it. F.e. max does a lot of sim testing himself unlike most others. For Max racing is like breathing unlike other drivers who got a lot of side quests.

Max might not be as dominant in another car, but he would still have race wins in a Mclaren or a Ferrari this year. Their cars are much more competitive than they were last year. Max can maximize any car he is in. He proved that by beating Lewis in 2021 in a worse car.

I can understand this perception, it's best to have competitive atmosphere. But in truth, Mercedes as truly lost its path in car design, just as much as Red Bull has earned its place with superior engineering. We all laugh when it took 14 months for Mercedes to fix its aerodynamic porpoise seen in every race. For me, the problem is not Red Bull winning, but the constant futility of Haas and Alpine every race. Where is the competitive spirit from F1 when 3 or 4 teams do not even show competitive attitude during the season.

It’s 4 things 1. F1 press is mostly brittish so dominance by non brittish vs Lewis (last we remember) is a bit less 2. Dominance was more clear about the car with Mercedes then the driver. Lewis won in part of contracts being the nr 1 driver. Now it’s clear Verstappen is a big part of the pace of the car. 3. Rules about reliability upgrades make it that cars just finish every race. So there are fewer chances for other teams due to mechanical failure. 4. Nobody sees a real competitor for the talent of verstappen. The old F1 champions on the grid are old and past their prime and there is no “young” driver on the grid that appears to bridge that gap in with a good car and/or with a couple of years of experience. My advice for a lot of teams is to invest in younger drivers as the current grid won’t challenge Verstappen. Maybe you have something in 2-3 years.
