Heck yeah, he averaged 20ppg his last 2 years in college with the Florida Gators.

Always Loved how Maxwell played, Hakeen was brilliant and in a way becuse he was so go he over shadowed played like Vernon Maxwell and Otis Thrope..... What a great team these guys were in the 90's

A lot of folks don't remember Vernon Maxwell played for the Spurs before he played for the Rockets. He scored like 39 its against Houston. It wasn't too long after that he became a Houston Rocket.

Damn I used to love the guy playing Mad Maxwell. He was a dog a good defender and gosh he could score on anyone. Sucks we didn't get to see Houston vs Bulls

I watched that game between Houston vs Bulls Jordan was so irritated by Maxwell defense his trash talking doesn't affect Maxwell , even his stare down is no effect

Max made me fall in love with basketball and sports period. Always will be a legend.

During the victory parade #1 Vernon Maxwell leaned over from the fire truck he was riding on and handed me a rockets decal of some sort.

Hakeem Olajuwon, Ralph Sampson, Vernon Maxwell, Otis Thorpe, Robert Reid, Allen Level, Moses Malone, Louis Lloyd, Sleepy Floyd, Purvis Short, Rodney McCray, Buck Johnson, World B Free, Mario Elie, Robert Horry, Sam Cassell was some good throwback Houston Rockets 🚀 times miss those days those were the good Ole days

The man has a better statline in PO than in regular season....A true competitor!!

They way he tossed John Starks after that 3 tho.

I went to UF the same time Maxwell did. He was a huge talent but was an even bigger partier. He and Rex Chapman would battle it out and I think we even won the SEC once or twice.

Max was like a westcoast John Starks before Starks even developed despite they came in the league the same year .

Maxwell would always shut Jordan down if he stayed out of foul trouble.

That Houston team would have beat Jordan and pippen in da finals

One ring- he was kicked off of the Houston roster for their 1995 p/o run because of his conduct....some "role player", LOL! He actually should be thanking & be grateful to Hakeem, for getting him his 94 ring. And if.....??....Maxwell had been on the 95 Rockets roster, they probably WOULDN'T have pulled out those close games they ended up winning in the p/o's because his continued stupid antics would have cost Houston the title. The 95 Rockets were better off withOUT him.

They were fully ready for the playoffs but lucky they didn’t meet the Sonics in 94 and 95 playoffs.

You no he always gave Jordan problems. He was Houston's answer to Jordan but they had no answer for Hakeem an that's why Houston would have beaten the bulls in the finals. Maxwell had the sheer talent of Jordan. But not Jordan's mental talent to ascend to a Jordan level of success.

But they'll say the 90's didn't have any skilled players

This guy was never any kind of "great athlete"! He was just a "streaky- shooter"-type player: he could be hot one night, ice-cold the next.

Jordan was afraid of Max. Max was tough but Starks was tougher.

Starks was good and a very good scorer but tougher than Max? Vernon didn't back down from anyone and was always ready to fight if he had to (Mad Max). Starks didn't have that same demeanor nor was he as strong as Max. That aside, Starks got on my nerves with that whole pounding his chest thing after a shot. I remember when 4:42 happened and Vernon pulled him out of the way after he buried that 3 in his face and sealed the game. It was satisfying to say the least.
