Always Loved how Maxwell played, Hakeen was brilliant and in a way becuse he was so go he over shadowed played like Vernon Maxwell and Otis Thrope..... What a great team these guys were in the 90's

A lot of folks don't remember Vernon Maxwell played for the Spurs before he played for the Rockets. He scored like 39 its against Houston. It wasn't too long after that he became a Houston Rocket.

I went to UF the same time Maxwell did. He was a huge talent but was an even bigger partier. He and Rex Chapman would battle it out and I think we even won the SEC once or twice.

Vernon had FAR more loose screws in his head than that phoney artest. And Vernon wouldn't have taken that push from Wallace and cowered on the scorers table in fear.

One ring- he was kicked off of the Houston roster for their 1995 p/o run because of his conduct....some "role player", LOL! He actually should be thanking & be grateful to Hakeem, for getting him his 94 ring. And if.....??....Maxwell had been on the 95 Rockets roster, they probably WOULDN'T have pulled out those close games they ended up winning in the p/o's because his continued stupid antics would have cost Houston the title. The 95 Rockets were better off withOUT him.

You no he always gave Jordan problems. He was Houston's answer to Jordan but they had no answer for Hakeem an that's why Houston would have beaten the bulls in the finals. Maxwell had the sheer talent of Jordan. But not Jordan's mental talent to ascend to a Jordan level of success.

This guy was never any kind of "great athlete"! He was just a "streaky- shooter"-type player: he could be hot one night, ice-cold the next.

Starks was good and a very good scorer but tougher than Max? Vernon didn't back down from anyone and was always ready to fight if he had to (Mad Max). Starks didn't have that same demeanor nor was he as strong as Max. That aside, Starks got on my nerves with that whole pounding his chest thing after a shot. I remember when 4:42 happened and Vernon pulled him out of the way after he buried that 3 in his face and sealed the game. It was satisfying to say the least.
