I'm confused why they made maces so poor against armor in this game. I mean, maces are purpose built to be used against people in armor. lol

Thats what surpriced me when I installed it... swords going through armor while hammers hitting 0 wtf... they got it backwards. Even greatswords where used as a hammer by grabbing them from the blade to damage high armoured enemies

Tbh the greatsword feels more like a awkward, weaker, smelly version of the mighty chad Executioner Sword who gets all the babes while the greatsword cries in the corner headbutting a dead pigeon.

I use the 2h sword on saltzpyre because I love giant swords, I would use it on kruber but the illusions for it are nothing compared to the Chad executioner not to mention just how superior executioner is to the regular 2h sword

Greatsword is tricky - you can see on youtube people playing Merc with greatsword on cata challenges or true solo. The thing about greatsword is that it seems bad or mediocre, but it has one trait: on heavy attack you get free dodge, which with dodge can move you very long distances (ecspecially with talent increasing dodge distance) while also cleaving through multiple armored units, dealing medium damage and stagger. Some cata players say its their favourite Merc weapon. But it sure needs high skill to pull it off.

Interesting! I had no idea about the free dodge. I like it on merc with just a metric fk ton of cleave going on. You eat hordes nicely and the push hit is pretty decent for elites.

Cleave and dodge allow you to survive armored enemies for a while but not for long. You still can hurt chaos warriors and shielded stormverming. You also do 0 boss damage.

Halberd is my favorite weapon but I’ll definitely try the spear though ! Thank you for the video !

Zheley No problem. Both are really fun.

I LOVE the 1h mace. It got me through my first legend games when I was new. The stamina and sv control is outstanding imo.

Halberd is awesome. That is the only weapon I use with the Merc. I just love that attack pattern.

Needs speed

I guess I'm the only one that likes the mace+shield :( faster than the exec sword, tons of stamina and the huge knockback makes a lot of space which seems to stop me from getting hit as much. I also find it pretty good for armour - just block+push+attack 2 or 3 times and the overhead noggin blat seems to take care of just about anything. Am I completely wrong? I'm certainly not an expert...

I'm kind of puzzled about Greathammer being placed lower than Halberd and Sword & Mace. Tbh I would switch both of those tiers.

Ben Shabtai The halberd has a higher damage potential than the great hammer and the mace and sword I felt was a bit more player friendly. Great hammer is definitely really good, but I felt it didn’t really fit as well with this class as say foot knight.

I love the 1 handed sword for its speed and crit's i like using the crit chance and attack speed with a trait to give cdr to my ult and just spam thp

We need a revamp of this

Where would you put the Bretonnian Longsword? I've found it good enough at everything, maybe a bit lacking in damage. A decent alternative to xword if the rumors are true and end up nerfing it

Probably B tier. It's good, but the light attacks feel kinda clunky and slow.

I think these days shield and mace is what you want on Brettonian Knight for mass crowd control while you have your Executioner sword for armored. Otherwise yeah it deserves its spot at the bottom.

I really like the big hammer so far

Spear and shield placement?

Simple mace is very safe an defensive. Underrated in my opinion.

Wish I had Winds of Magic to get the spear, every person I've talked to says that the spear is great but I am happy to have Executioner Sword

I think the only good thing about WOM is the weapons, I am hesitant on buying it for the spear because of everything else

The beastmen are definitely better than on release but there’s still a number of things that sour the experience for me. Might have to make a video about it sometime.

Toast Brains can you buy the dlc, unlock the weapons then deactivate the dlc on steam. You won’t get any WoM dlc stuff like beastmen if you host, dark omens, weaves or cats but you can still use the weapons

Executioner Sword really still rank S ? It has been nerfed, I mean nerfed a lot......

It got a 7.5% reduction in attack speed if memory serves. Not much of a nerf if you ask me. A tier at the worst.

I'm a foot knight main, so I'm not going to comment on merc, but on foot knight, mace is godly, that 18.5 stagger plus 33% stagger, man oh man, better watch your self! stun locked.

wain mundt And that’s basically the way I’m trying to look at everything. How do these weapons benefit this specific class? I try to answer that to the best of my ability. This list will definitely be much different for foot knight I can promise you that.

I managed to use this to pretty good effect on mercenary with attack speed buffs. Dunno I like it against hordes, against elites and it got 4.5 stamina.
