Lvl 1 is just a block Lvl 2 you’re able to deflect projectiles and block melee attacks. Unfortunately you can’t parry melee attacks in this mode :/

I wish that if you pressed at the right time you get an actual parry like dante and don't lose concentration bar. Maybe it could happen only at level 2 or 3 or something.

That is more of a description rather than an argument. Vergil in his boss fights as well as cutscenes always has been heavy on his blocks, in fact... he blocks every single thing you throw at him in the boss fight. He only "evades" to reposition himself. For Dante's boss fight, Dante uses well... Royal guard, the difference being that Dante is more aggresive with his ranged attacks and will deflect certain attacks from Vergil.

@@WeebSlayer27 I guess the devs thought it was just cool to have Vergil walk around and effortlessly block 15 homing rockets from double Kalina Ann And just menacingly standing there The boss fight creates the feeling that Vergil is in control of the fight and not the player The player constantly moves around resulting in hindered concentration build up Boss vergil even though less powerful than a player Vergil ,still moves methodically to build up tons of concentration

@@roshan6999 That is true, but payable Vergil should have, at least, an auto parry/block that... idk, stuns any demon at the cost of some concentration. Like, right now the playable Vergil just blocks when holding the lock-on button and only wastes concentration, it would be nice that it would be a deflection to open up enemies instead of a basic block that it's counter productive. It can deflect ranged attacks but tbh it's not that great anyways.

I really hope someone will use this against Dante's Missile... 😃😃😃😃😃😃

he's so powerful at this point in the story it makes sense for him to be so casual about it. Dante and Nero are stylistic people. Vergil is a "BE GONE ALREADY!" type person

That's the most casual parry I've ever seen in my entire life

The editor in me hates how you didn't trim out the extra time waiting for the Pyrobat to fire, but the rest of me loves it because it gives the video so much buildup to this epic parry but all we get is 'dink'

Vergil really was about to say "Have you decided to shoot so I can get this video over with?"

It's not a parry if he doesn't use his right hand to "everything-proof-shield" a melee attack like he always did in DMC3

they really screwed up with some of the cast's moves, it's a shame since they already had the groundwork laid out from previous games just grab Vergil's swag-ass DMC3 parry and visually update it, done fucking deal. instead no, let's put some weaksauce looking block, and some finicky wrist slap 'parry' and call it a day, same shit with Nero's Tabble Hopper which was perfect in DMC4 etc etc

I don't see any button input for this parry. You get free protection for keeping concentration bar. Which is already too good. And he still has various "parry" for each weapon by "deflecting" enemy attacks with your attack.

This block is for when you know you are gonna get hit and you can't move or dodge cuz of high recovery animations to exchange a bit of concentration bar , instead of the full bar and health dmg

@@vergil9981 dude vergil always wait for his opponent to make a move, he always counters that's why they gave him the laido sword technique and a parry for a reason it is also shown in most of his cutscenes and his boss fight. And what do you mean by you can't move or dodge be cause of high animation recovery? Have you ever used his trick? Where he can literally cancel all of his animations?

The way that demon recoils and the vid cuts to black.......its as if the demons all "hey what the fuck bro!?"

I had to come and look this up because I was sitting in the void trying to figure out the parry and thinking is my timing off why is it just blocking. Turns out it just doesn’t work on melee attacks

Any attack will take priority over the block mechanic. The block mechanic only works when you have concentration, stand completely still, and hold the lock on button.

And i think Dante just slightly raising his right arm was a good idea.

THat's so lame.. there are less than a handfull of ranged attacks in the game. Having a real melee parry would be so freaking cool... A basic block isn't really stylish and doesn't fit Vergils gameplay at all... No one will ever use it...

boss vergil has a parry that's slick, main difference is that it slows the game down for a sec along with different lighting and a zoom in to show the significance of it

It already exist in the game. It's the core mechanics since DMC 3, simply melee attack when enemy swings at you.

He parries attacks in the boss fight he should have a functional parry, and if you perfectly time it then you don't lose concentration.

I think it wpuld be pretty useful against the goat demons with ice magic, since you can maybe deflect all 5 of their ice shots at once by just standing there. But it's more of a flavor mood that's simply meant to save your style. But you'd be better off just trick dodging.

That was the lamest parry move I've seen. They could have added the DMC 3 Vergil block or at least the DMC 5 Vergil boss fight parry Another trick would have been, if timed correctly, it would allow you to do a slow motion counterattack. That would have been stylish as hell
