La Vereda de la Estrella es probablemente una de las rutas más caminadas en el Parque Nacional de Sierra Nevada, y no es de extrañar con las magníficas vistas que tiene a la cara norte de los picos Alcazaba, Mulhacén y Veleta.
El día es bastante frío en el Barranco de San Juan y tenemos que llevar algunas capas de ropa.
Aunque se puede hacer en un día, recomiendo dividirla en dos para apreciar al máximo y disfrutar de sus paisajes, pasando la noche en uno de los refugios (La Cucaracha o El Aceral), que disponen ambos de literas de madera.
Durante el camino vamos oyendo el sonido de las aguas del río Genil y en estos días de invierno hay algunas placas de hielo en zonas de umbría.
La ruta va por una senda perfectamente transitable que servía hace décadas para el transporte del cobre y otros minerales de las minas de La Probadora, La Estrella y La Justicia.
La única parte un poco más estrecha está después del refugio El Aceral, donde hay un tramo con un par de pasos donde hay que tener cuidado, pero que no son peligrosos si vamos con precaución.

"Star's Trail" is probably one of the most walked routes in the Sierra Nevada National Park, and it is not surprise, due to the amazing views to the north face of the Alcazaba, Mulhacén and Veleta peaks.
The day is quite cold in the Barranco de San Juan and we have to wear some layers of clothing.
Although it can be done in a day, I recommend splitting it in two to make the most out of it and enjoy its landscapes, spending the night in one of the shelters (La Cucaracha or El Aceral), both of which have wooden bunk beds.
Along the way we will hear the sound of the waters of the river Genil (higher up the river Real) and in these winter days there are some ice sheets in shady areas.
The route goes along a perfectly passable path all the way that served decades ago for the transport of copper and other minerals from the mines of La Probadora, La Estrella and La Justicia.
The only slightly narrower part is after the El Aceral refuge, where there is a section with a couple of steps where you have to be careful, but they are not dangerous if we walk carefully.
