This woman must have the biggest balls ever. To sing that passage in chest voice...it boggles my mind. Outstanding!

Many "Eboli´s" i have listen to but i always come back to Miss Baltsa as her way of creating the role is the best.
Amazing.. The best mezzo of the previous century.
The performance of this aria is simply masterful and dignified. Mrs. Agnes Baltsa showed art at the highest level, the last high A that shot like a bullet knocked me off my feet. This performance is a model for me to which I will always compare other performers of this role. It is a pity that Karajan cut out this aria.

I had a stroke with the low part. We don't see nowadays a chest voice witch that level of development, richness, squillo, NOTHING! Nowadays the REAL chest voice was death... Sad. 🥲🤡
Agnes Baltsa was the only one who sang this aria with fire! Such a big voice and passion! I can listen to this over and over!

for me is the one and only Elena Obraztsova, who really nailed it. But Baltsa definitely gets a worthy 2d place

This is for all those who say that the low register should be weak and less bright when compared to the mid and high register... FEEL THE QUALITY OF THESE CHEST NOTES!!! It shines brighter than the middle register and shines like the head voice. According to Garcia, THAT is the correct way to sing belcanto.

Who in the world says the low register should be weak? Even sopranos tend to sound feeble without a solid chest voice. There is so much nonsense that poses as vocal pedagogy.
