Verbenas are my favorite perennials. They're so durable. I didn't know too much about caring for flowers, l just knew that my mother always had verbenas year after year. They withstood the frosted mornings and all. They went down to almost nothing and blossomed right back. Before watching your video I was cutting off all the dried up flowers ,now i know to cut right above the green leaves. Thanks for the video.

Thanks for the info! Just bought my first verbena plant and found you channel as I looked for how to care for it! Bought the pruning shesrs you shared and next week I’m looking at the stems! I saw some old growth but the majority of the bud still very green so want sure if that meant it could still sprout from there or that it was spent already. This was a hanging basket bought at a local garden center. We have had a lot of rain since I purchased so I made sure it wasn’t sitting in water and when it dries out a little more I will inspect it further. Thanks again for the info!

Very helpful video, thank you. And perfect timing! We just picked up a new 1 gallon verbena peruviana, and came home to this video. It helped us pick a good location in full sun, hopefully it will do well and we'll get a few more later this month. We are in California, zone 10A, we sometimes get a couple 30 degree frosts in the winter so we hope the plants makes it through as a perennial.

I love the white verbena. I had some two years ago and at dusk it was like they were glowing. They still showed up in my pots. Also love the orange and yellow verbena. Thanks for teaching us how to take care of them best.

Im zone 9b and verbenna do amazing especially in pots and bloom all year round. But in summer they slow down ,but pick back up in the fall. They do need water especially if in garden beds not on irrigation systems if it's hot outside. All n all amazing plants. Mines even bloom in winter here in Louisiana...

Just stumbled on your video--now i have a lot of catching up to do. I love verbena and try to get the PW Peachy Keen every year. Deadheading isn't a favorite chore, but l try to keep up with it because it looks untidy if left undone!! Looking forward to Friday.

4 questions: 1. What does it mean when they have like a light green/whitish pattern on their leaves? 2. What does it mean when the edges of the leaves turn a dark purple color? 3. What does it mean when a big clump of leaves get really soft and limp? 4. What does it mean when the leaves are light green instead of dark green?

We are really sorry to hear this and want to help. Verbena are susceptible to a disease called Powdery Mildew, amongst some other fungal and bacterial diseases. If you are seeing any types of "fuzzy" or discoloring growth on the dying-back portions of your verbena, then you could have a fungal disease attacking your plants. Best thing to do in cases with any fungal diseases is to plant in new, sterile potting soil and keep your plants on a regular watering schedule, BUT don't overwater your plants so the fungal diseases can come back or get established in the first place. This means only water your verbena when the top 2-3 inches of soil around it are dry. If the soil is wet in the top 2-3 inches of soil, then hold off watering until it's dry. Also, making sure you place your verbena in full sun locations, but not in extremely hot weather, above 95F. If your temperature gets higher than 95 and you have intense sun light, move your verbena (if in a container) to a shadier or partial shade location until the intense sun and/or high temperatures have passed. Hope this helps.👍🏼👍🏼 Thank you for commenting and watching our video! 😊😀
