Venture to Iceland. Part One. Southampton to Scotland

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

This video documents the first part - Southampton to Scotland - of a journey made aboard Venture II in 2012. The footage has previously been uploaded in short segments because, at the time it was shot, You Tube restricted the length of videos to under 10 minutes. Hopefully this longer format will provide a better feel for this exciting journey.

Such a wonderful piece of art, thank you so much for sharing. I have sailed those waters many times in my time with The Royal Fleet Auxiliary. I would love the chance to sail them and take in the stunning beauty of the west of Scotland at a leisurely pace like you have. Interestingly, for all the seas and oceans I have sailed upon, the passage from Rosyth to Glen Mallan in Loch Long was the worst seas I ever encountered. Hurricane force 13 in the treacherous Pentland Firth with it's 16 knots tide is probably the only time I have ever been in fear of my life at sea.

At 78, soon to be 79 sailing alone for me is no longer an option, and although I held a USCG 100 ton ticket years back, I am no longer qualified. But your documentary certainly brought back many memories and for an old man, DrakesPassage on a cruise ship was spectacular.

Your documentaries bring a smile to my face! Thank you! "I've slipped the surly bonds of earth" (Richard Bach) through a career in aviation...but my desire to learn to sail is in my blood.....how about a tandem kayak with a $17 sail? Reckon that would suffice? The waters are calling! Ocean liners don't really count, although they provide a joy upon the seas....I'll settle for a catamaran with a gib and main........or, a kayak with a $17 sail. Or a seaplane rating.......my bucket list has done spilt! And "1984"....with George Orwell.....and we're sitting here watching this come into fruition....but just a retro thought to a 70 year old in November....Again, thank you! The music is always a plus!!! Mendelssohn! I've played a bunch of his piano works. Guess I should shut up until the end of this presentation? And, Behold! The beauty of His Creation! The shark, I thought, at first may be a whale shark, but clarified in your commentary. Basalt formations abundant in this video.... Shuddup, Sandy! Cash? Eve our convenience stores have been not accepting cash......oh, well....again, shuddup Sandy. Don't rock the boat.
