When I think of Holland, I think of Dutch girls in wooden shoes and big huge old windmills like the design of the cookies. Very timely to see Holland dotted with modern wind turbines and a few old style windmills at the end. I guess it is the same plight as our old gambrel roofed barns in this day and age of metal pole sheds. So much education from these videos.

I think you presented Venture II at the Boot-Show at Düsseldorf. No video concerning yor cruise on River Rhine in Germany? Is it possible to cruise on the Rhine to Basel/Switzerland?

We did present Venture II in Dusseldorf in January 2010. If you go to Flemingyyachts.com and click the red KZread arrow at top right of home page you will find all the videos available. Look for: A Single Step. Part 3. Venture II in Europe. This covers our journey up the Rhine. We did not go any further than Dusseldorf. I don't know how far upstream you can go. It should not be hard to find out on the internet - but you would probably require to have a Rhine pilot on board.

What is that big board they have hanging off the side of their ships?

They are called Lee-boards. They are to prevent a boat going sideways when sailing against the wind. Modern sailboats have centreboards or a deep keel.

Would it be possible to cross the Atlantic ocean with the Venture 2?

Cork Ireland to Horta in the Azores is only 1100Nm, then on to Bermuda another 1700Nm, then a short leg of 570Nm to the North Carolina coast. Or from the Azores you can take a leg direct to St Johns Canada if the weather is agreeable of only 1050Nm. So two legs of just over 2000Nm is the shortest way to cross the Atlantic and Venture is certainly up to the job!
