Ventura County Fire (VCFD) Shows Off New Rescue Ambulances

Date: 6/27/23
Time: Units In Service 12:00pm
Interview 4:00pm
Location: 1542 N Moorpark Rd, Thousand Oaks, CA 91360
Notes: The Ventura County Fire Department has today taken a bold step to improve emergency response and safety in local communities, with the addition of four new Rescue Ambulance (RA) units to its fleet. These state-of-the-art RA units have been deployed in the communities of Thousand Oaks (RA30), Santa Paula (RA26), Camarillo (RA50), and Simi Valley (RA41), significantly enhancing emergency response capabilities in these areas.
Notably, on its inaugural day of service, the Thousand Oaks unit (RA30) was tested by a structure fire - the first for any RA unit in the county. The crew responded promptly and efficiently, demonstrating the increased readiness and capability these units bring to the local communities.
The new RA units mark a significant shift from the existing AMR and other privately-operated ambulance services. Both crew members onboard each RA unit are fully equipped firefighters, merging the traditionally separate roles of firefighting and medical emergency response. Further distinguishing these units, they come fitted with multiple advanced pieces of technology, including Lucas CPR machines, and Traffic Collision Extraction tools, thereby reducing the time it takes to provide victims with potentially life-saving medical care.

Wouldn’t mind running on the RA. In the process completing my paramedic program with Allan Hancock College.

This is interesting considering that the Ventura City Fire Department was forced to get rid of their ambulance service.
