    Man please go to this homeowner and have them cover that septic tank, we had a child fall in a septic tank where I live and drowned the police looked for him for three days and they found his body in the septic tank. Cover that thing up before someone or something falls in and dies

    That's awful. Yeah, the whole reason they wanted it cleaned up was so that they could have some septic work done. So they'll take care of it once they come out and fix it. Elderly lady lives here and probably hasn't been out there in years.

    First my contract says the client warrants the property to be free of hazards. 2 I charge $150 for down time. 3 I carry all the tools to tear down my machine if needed. But all my tractors have compound wire cutters and I carry large bolt cutters in my truck. Way worse on flail mowers. I have the hydraulic deck tilt option. Absolutely needed on my 6’ flail mower. Put a traffic cone or trash can that septic tank! Great job. I also carry the leatherman on my belt as edc v

    I am impressed with your calm and reasoned approach to the obstacles you encountered during this mowing job. I would hope the owner would mark those obstacles with caution posts, flagging tape or paint. In VT, we have to mark fence wire with flagging tape or signs, especially if the fence crosses what might be a pathway or trail in the winter. Snow mobiles or skiers are supposed to stay on marked paths maintained by landowners or clubs.

    Congrats on the new VENTRAC! That's awesome. There's probably something not aligning correctly if you already broke a belt. I haven't broke a belt yet and I've put 245 hours on mine. It's held up great and I've been through some nasty stuff. May want to check and see if it's rubbing something. It's possible that you got some debris in there and it threw it off and broke it? Not sure what's going on there, but definitely not normal. Appreciate you watching the video. Keep me updated on the Ventrac and as always #GodProvides☝️

  • @TheLawnCareLifeinMowssouri

    @TheLawnCareLifeinMowssouri

    Pros: bushog cuts the material first because it’s out front, it can tackle some pretty thick stuff, easy to see what you’re cutting when Tough Cut deck is in front of the Ventrac. Cons: it doesn’t cut thin grass as clean as I would like. It’s better suited for thicker brush/grass.

    I believe it was around 4 acres. This one took a couple of hours to tackle. You can usually move through an acre in 30 mins to an hour depending on how thick it is.

    I NEVER leave the shop with out an electric impact and cable cutters. If you had raised up the deck and removed the blade you would have been back in business in less than 5 min. To me that wasn’t a project for the ventrac…. I own 2ea 4500Z ventrac machines and to me they are lawn mowers and not brush machines. The tires puncture all to easy as well. That would have been a tractor and bush hog job for sure… but to each his own and I know you gotta go with what ya got. Be safe out there 👍

    Just me, but i would never cut property with metal debis in the field, way to much damage to your mower blades, botor drive train ect. Id either have property owner eslk the property first and check or if do it and charge him for that time. First you had unmarked sewer then barbed wire then a metal tub. Id have all property owners sogn a disclaimer stating theres no metal or debris of any kind befote hand and they are aware of paying for damage and loss in eayges if there is.

    Definitely find a lot of trash on some of these properties. It's hard to know what's in there. Often the customer doesn't even know. Not a bad idea to create an estimate noting that the customer pays for any damage that may have been caused by hidden objects in the yard. I like it. Great tip.

    How do you bid these jobs? Do you charge hourly/ by acre/ by the job? How do you make it worth the investment on the Ventrac?

  • @TheLawnCareLifeinMowssouri

    Have a minimum and charge by the job. But if you're not making $250/hr you won't even be able to make a profit. These things are getting more and more expensive. Hope that helps.
