Ventrac 4500Y Plowing Snow

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

This is my Ventrac 4500Y with the Ventrac KD722 6 foot front blade. This was a wet heavy snowfall. The 4500 handled it very well. If you would like to learn more about Ventrac just click on the link below.

I've been quite happy with the power of the snowplow on our Ventrac 4500. It replaces 3-4 snow shovelers, thus increasing productivity. Suggestion: Angle a bit more, take a smaller bite of snow to decrease spillage. Thanks for the vid.

love those machines, and what they are capable of. when i see blue in the crevices, i call it heart attack snow, that stuff is heavy.

Listen to that thing, even coming to a complete stop and starting up again the engine sounds like there is no load difference at all. That's impressive for such a small machine, reminds me of the old industrial gravely tractors.

The machinery worked well considering the heavy snow. I don't know if it is powerful enough for a larger plow. The smaller plow creates extra work due to spillage which requires additional runs. In all I was impressed. Try to stay warm!

Definitely a snow pusher! Did you get your LED headlights through a dealer? I couldn't find them on there Website, and I was curious how you clean up the gravel in the lawn? I use a little stihl tiller with the power sweep attachment works very well, another cool video thanks for sharing 👍

I did get them thru the dealer. I am not sure why they arecnot listed as a option on there website. I try not to get gravel in the lawn, But so far I have been unsucsessful every year. I usually just rake it back in early spring. I did hear the rubber broom for the Stihl trimmer works well. I looked at getting one for mine, Just never actually got one yet.

Great video. Do you know if there is a rule or guidance for spacer placement on the shaft of the shoe skid foot assembly? I have the six foot blade on the Ventrac 4500Y also. My first ever use was this week on all asphalt drive and parking area. Thanks.

I placed mine to the highest setting for the gravel drive. For asphalt and concrete I would probably put enough washers to keep the wear edge a half inch off the blacktop. Once you adjust the blade to the right setting gently pull the blade tords you from the front a bit to pull on the springs and then check the gap. Once you start plowing the blade will tip forward a little bit. They do make a poly cutting edge you can install so you can scrape to bare pavement. You could use the steel cutting edge, But I think it would chip concrete at the cracks or skin up blacktop.

I got the lights when I purchased the tractor. The LED lights are a Ventrac option. The rollbar lights are a option. They are the rear light work kit that I turned forward. The headlights I added as well.

My blade works well, But after the last snow fall I was running out of room to pysh snow. We usually do not get a lot of snow to run into that, But when we do the snowblower would be very handy. Plus the snowblower is a lot of fun as well.

Have you changed your mind at all comparing the y to the z? I literally cannot make up my mind. I just keep going back and forth. Fill ups aside would you have picked the z? More frequent fill ups are the only reason I’m considering the y. Id say 90% of what I’ll be doing is mowing. 5 acres of manicured lawn and 95 acres of tough cutting / reclaiming. Plenty of hills and plenty of room to store gas cans. My dealer is trying to talk me into a y. I’ve only test driven a z. I loved everything about the z , but I already experienced bogging down on some extremely tall, thick grass on a pond bank.... granted I also had the tough cut on its lowest height setting. I’ll be going from a grasshopper zero turn with a 13 gallon tank, to a ventrac with 6, this is the only thing where the outcome is uncertain to me. I think your videos are great and I value your opinion over anyone else I’ve spoken with about these machines.

I would personally get the Y for myself again. This had to be the hardest decision I made in a long time. So far I have had no power issues cutting grass. I have not used the tough cut just yet to give you a answer on that. The diesel handled the power rake well. As far as pushing snow it didn't struggle at all, pushed like there was no load at all. If the Z was bugging a bit in the tall grass then you may not be happy with the diesel. If you have really steep hills, There again the gas would probably be better. I did tons of research before I made my choice and many people loved the diesel. They said a good operator will have no problems. I have to agree. If you are mowing 7 mph and come up to some tall thick grass just back off the speed a bit. I think the best thing you could do it demo a diesel before you purchase one. That way you will know for sure if it right for you. I will say that the diesel sips fuel for sure. I'm sure this probably doesn't help you much, But the diesel works great for me but maybe not you. Its a big purchase so if you can't demo a diesel to make sure then just go with the gas.

@@steiger256 thanks I’ve reached to my dealer to demo a diesel, I’m seriously considering the 4500P now as well. I guess multiple good options is a good problem to have. Looking forward to seeing your Y with a tough cut and a power rake.

@@zacharystephens786 I agree there is better to have a few more options. The P is a great high horse engine that gets better fuel usage. I did a video with a Y with the power rake a few years back if you want to check it out. I did not push the machine to hard because it was not mine. I am really interested to hear your thoughts on the Y vs the Z after the demo. If you could let me know what you think. I know the Z has more power, But I am still just a diesel guy at heart.
