Also, I'm concern about condensation in the winter due to the lack of insulation. Inside the pipe will condensate a lot in the winter and might even leak inside the range hood.

For a better video on installing the vent cap watch "How to Vent a Bath Fan Through the Roof" on this old house channel. This is of course not a bath vent fan but the application of the cap is still the same. This installation is not ideal. Also we are required to only use hard smooth duct for the range vent... as grease can build up overtime on any time of flex vent and cause a fire or just general inefficiency of the range itself.

I’m in Michigan. Where my vent is located on the roof is an area that gets drifting so the snow can get quite deep. All the exhaust vent covers I looked at locally from the usual big box store were too short and would get buried in the snow. I got my vent from Ventilation Maximum in Quebec Canada, I’m close to the border so I just drove over to Ontario and picked it up at a local hardware store. It works great. You can probably order online.

@@FixitAll "Didn't feel like it" is where all half-assed work comes from. Sealant will fail before the hard parts do, which is why it should never be the first line of defense. Just because you've gotten away with it doesn't make it right or good. It is not that hard to remove and replace shingles properly.

Why take the collar off, loosen your shingles higher up with a flat bar not bending them with your fingers😔 tar should be underneath the flashing, not all over on top to be seen, but it helps people who need help👍

@@FixitAll Nice attitude. So does duct tape on a car tire until it doesn't and someone's dies. Bubble gum and spit wads work too. If you're going to make videos just call them the wrong way to do things. Or Jethroe's redneck videos. Or how to burn your house down.

A nother totally screwed up video. No tar should be used on the bottom side so any water that does get in could excape. Attaching the flex to nothing but caulk or adhesive is wrong. And I could keep going but my suggestion is there's a video on THIS OLD HOUSE norm will show you the correct way.
