This reminds me of when I was bit by my ball python, went to the hospital to get it cleaned up, told them it was my pet ball python that was non venomous, and then a nurse comes in and whispered to my doctor “we don’t have anti venom” and they had to reassure me that I was ok cause it was non venomous. I was like, yeah I know.

@@jakobedonald8586You're _many times_ more likely to get salmonella from a chicken egg than you are from your reptile lmao👍 That is an old myth perpetuated by People Eating Tasty Animals & other "animal rights" groups when they were pushing hard to get more of our rights stripped by the gov and outlaw exotic pet ownership, back before the reptile hobby was as large as it is today 💯👏

When I was little in Tucson I saw a Gila Monster stuck in a bunch of teddy bear cactus. I went home and got a box and put the gila monster in the box. I then took him home to my Dad so he could take the cactus out of the Gila. My Dad took the Gila and he carried him away.. lol

How many venom bites do you think could have ended better if doctors listened to the hobbiest instead of thinking they know better. While they basically flat out say they don't know what to do 🤦‍♂️. It's why a bite protocol is so important when keeping these beautiful creatures

They are legal to own, just some states require specific venomous reptile / pet permits & other states they're legal to own and don't require permits as long as owning venomous reptiles is legal there. In the United States we have something called venom one which specializes in treating and providing venomous bites.

Just days before this happened I walked past a table displaying Gila Monsters for sale to those with licenses, in Loveland, CO. He did not have proper permits. Makes us all look bad. Nobody knows if they’ll go into anaphylaxis from a bite since it is *relatively* rare. Hence his sudden death. Didn’t know to take Benadryl or epinephrin or didn’t have it. Check out Dingo Dinkelman! He’s allergic and from South Africa.

Also you're semi right about Chandler's cobra bite, he was with the premier go to guy & his team in that part of India that people etc call to catch, remove & relocate venomous snakes from homes etc. they went to the hospital that was closest, he tied off finger to slow venom spreading, was treated best the hospital could then when vitals were stabilized etc went where he could get anti venom etc he already knew the tip of finger was necrotic etc and when he got back to Florida went to hospital that could properly treat, cut off necrotic tissues and bone etc and send him home with antibiotics etc needed. Same sort of process when he got bit bringing miss toothy his Cuban crocodile to his property. Got bit, got infected etc needed surgeries, meds and whatnot from hospital in Florida that knew how to treat a crocodile bite to the lower leg and was fine and healed a month or two later.
