VELVET REVOLVER SORUM NEWFOUND LOVE FOR AXL ROSE

Velvet Revolver drummer Matt Sorum says, post-split with Weiland, maybe former Guns N' Roses bandmate Axl Rose wasn't so bad.

Axl Rose is an icon. Like Matt says, he might have been hard to cope with, but the concerts sold out all over the world. You can't deny his success, nor find someone who matches his anti-hero charisma, original.

Gotta say Matt Sorum tells it like it is. Seems to be the most diplomatic of all the GNR members too because he would actually approach Axle Rose during the in fighting where as the others would just walk away. One thing though, I really really love Velvet Revolvers first album Contraband. Scott Weiland's vocals just fit and the over all sound is just an all rock punk smash your face in. This is my favorite album after Appetite (by Slash and Duff). It's too bad once again the band couldn't have stuck around.

+MrMotherfuck123 That's right...That's the differences he's bringing up-the money. I understand that money is important but, when you're in the business of producing beautiful art, I believe that your hunger controls the outcome and if it's for the money, then the product is going to reflect that. And I think that's why I could never get into VR..

Sorum is an adequate drummer and he looks pretty cool doing what he does. I don't understand how he could compare Axl and Weiland in terms of how much of a crowd they draw. Axl was in GUNS N ROSES! You can't compare GNR and VR that way. It's a very douchey move.

I don't give a shit what any of these rock critics have to say. As axl once said "get in the ring and i'll kick your bitchy little ass punk!!

Yeah Mellowbuzz1974 I'm talking about Axl! Get your facts straight, he wasn't a junkie! He was never addicted to heroin, they all had their times with booze and sorts of drugs, but AXL was never a junkie that is my point & a fact! If you don't know what you're talking about then don't be so quick to think you're right ;) just a little thought!

Rolling Stone article where Matt is commenting about the argument he and I believe it was Paul that if he wouldn't of got into it with him about saying something about slash and starting an argument and getting himself fired he would still be with Guns today. I never read anywhere that Axl had any intentions of letting Matt go until then.

He's not wrong.. Scott Weiland was a junkie whose stupidity and addictions were a pain in the ass for the rest of the band. Axl might be a bossy control freak but he never let his addiction interfere with his work. Weiland on the other hand was very unprofessional. I lost even the slightest respect I had for him when he was bashing Axl Rose on the Velvet Revolver concert I've been to, as well as people from the crowd with GnR t-shirts. His talent didn't justify his massive ego either, he was a mediocre singer at best, unlike Axl who's one of the most talented rock vocalists of all times!!!

The one thing I remember clearly is that when he was singing "It's so easy" he paraphrased the lyrics saying "I see you standing there, with Axl Rose's t-shirts, so why don't you just fuck off!!" to the fans in the crowd who were wearing GnR t-shirts.

I don't appreciate what Matt says. Having not enough success is not only one person's fault or accomplishment. You can't compare the V.R's songs with G'n'R's songs. And this has to do with everyone's inspiration and evolution. Matt should just take his own responsibility and not blame the others, even if they have their share also

Matt Sorum is as camp as a row of tents :-) Still, a great drummer. He and Adler have their own styles and neither is better than the other - both played great drums on different albums. And Sorum thinks Scott Weil*nd is a twat, so he's alright in my book. I find it offensive that he can even be mentioned on the same page as Axl Rose, who is the greatest frontman there ever has been or ever will be.

When they were recording appetite for destruction he said: "After we've recorded this damn album I'm gonna lock myself in a room for two weeks and do heroin." Atleast you got the part right that they're clean now.

not to point fingers. there is a common denominator in both G'N'R and Velvet's breakups. both were successful bands. in both situations there was some type of issue especially with the lead singer, even though both breakups happened at different times. Coincidence, i think not?
