Here is our first look within Vela Boatworks and their upcoming 368 Catamaran.
We really enjoy learning about a company by spending time with those that created it. It usually gives us more of an in-depth an idea of the product we'll all end up seeing at the end of the day, dressed up, pretty and displayed at the major boat shows.
A few things we really liked about this group was their passion for boat building. Each person had their own extensive history and experience, bringing a unique value to this process. They also have spent an incredible amount of time on R & D, which is uncommon due to the time and money investment required. They built a full running plug that they will test over and over until the product reaches it's maximum potential. Then, they will go forward with cutting a CNC cut plug for their mold. It's close to impossible to get things right the first try from a design and Auto CAD drawing, so we commend them for this step.
We look forward to learning more about this group and boat in production as time goes on. They definitely caught our attention from the start, so we can't wait to see this boat come to life and have our shot to spend some time on her.

Hey everyone. We want to spread awareness regarding ALLEN BROUWER co-founder of #BESTSELFCO and VELA BOATWORKS who scammed a team of four people from the Philippines. We also found out that other teams much bigger than ours from other countries were scammed as well. It’s become clear that we were hired with no intentions of ever paying us. What’s even crazier is this person continues to hire people till this day. They have tried several times to communicate, but have yet to receive a clear response as to when they are going to get paid in FULL. For all those times, this person is either MIA or gave the run-around. The team was hired last June to do customer service work but did not notice anything sketchy until mid July. In other words, they trusted this person. They are hoping to get paid for the 2 months worth of salary needed by their families during this pandemic. It’s quite insulting and adding salt to injury that this person posts and preached so much about happiness and positive outlook of life, when in truth of it all, this person has wronged a lot of people. With a business like Best Self Co, it wasn't difficult to put trust in this person. The company speaks of a positive message and encourages people to be their best self. However, this is far from what this person has done. They also found out the cases that were filed against this person from senior citizens along with pages of complaints to the Better Business Bureau. If you do not trust what you've read here, you can do your own research. You may question everything, - but all they want is to get paid for the money that theyve worked so very hard for. They need all the help they can get.
4 guys building,too much of a mom and pop shop for me to give them the kind of money they are looking for probably for a catamaran because they are the hull type everyone is looking for nowadays!!! I’m not impressed, need to see the final build and sea trial!!!
