Vehicle train at North Portal, Seattle, 4-15-2015
I was hanging out on the downtown Seattle waterfront listening to my scanner. From the conversation between Dispatch and a train crew I deduced their train was leaving Balmer Yard and would be coming my way shortly.
I set up my camera on the sidewalk on Alaskan Way to see what was coming. Around curve came BNSF 7582 (ES44DC) bringing a vehicle train southbound on Main 2.
An interesting, symmetrical loco lashup here - two BNSF units and two from Norfolk Southern. Each pair consists of 1 Dash-9 and 1 Evolution Series and each pair face opposite directions.

Whats with all the track materials stacked on the old trolley tracks, are they finally tearing them out?

mafarnz Don't know what's going on with the old trolley tracks, if they are being torn out or what. I did notice this week (mid-June) that work crews are completely replacing the Clay St crossing. That's the 2nd road crossing, at about 1:35. In my video you can see a bit of the stacks of concrete "plates" that go in between and on either side of the tracks and some stacks of new ties as well. The asphalt road has been removed for a dozen feet on either side of the tracks so we'll get nice fresh asphalt and new crossing plates. Don't know if they'll do just this one crossing, or the several in this stretch. All are old and pretty bumpy, hope they do all of them.

Dejoh Denny Yes. Can't disturb the precious little darlings that bought a condo right next to the train tracks. Hate them wimpy sounding "crossing bells". Yuck.
Then you see a train on a flat bed car
