His relationship with Gohan is interesting. He originally hated him simply because he was weak, but even then he respected his willingness to fight dispire his weakness (Namek saga), then he respected him but still partially hated him when he went SSJ2 due to him surpassing him, by the end if the cell games he flat out respected him, then he was disappointed in him for letting himself get weaker (early Buu saga), then when Gohan became mystic he respected him outright for his strength and willingness to give it his all, and in the end he just respected him as he had shown his willingness to fight and put it all on the line even if life goals were elsewere, that he would die to protect what he loved and that was enough for Vegeta. He also truly respected Gohans intellect and his ability to analyse a situation and just know how to deal with it, Gohan has basically the perfect fighters mind in that regard. Vegeta is all about pride, and he realised Gohan has pride, he just has it in different things than Vegeta, and that's ok with him. He doesn't care what you believe, he just cares that your willing to go all out for it, as that is his version of saiyan pride.

@@justinlikesme19 Gohan never liked fighting that much, it was more he was forced into that lifestyle than anything else. Goku was content letting him be a scholar at first, but then Raditz came and kidnapped Gohan, then Piccolo kidnapped Gohan and made him survive for nearly a year, then obviously the Saiyan invasion, where he felt obligated to travel to Namek to fix this. then we got the Androids part where he could chill and study, but if he did he would feel like it's partially his fault for not training as hard as he could to counter the oncoming threat. then with Cell again he didn't have much of a choice, he also wanted to spend time with Goku, who was either dead or training to combat the next big threat. Super Saiyan 2 was basically Gohan just snapping and releasing his holds, he finally let go of his soft nature and went hard. You can still see this in Super, where sure, he can't go ultimate during the Resurection of F arc since he was so out of shape, hell, even Super Saiyan drained him. (which previously it couldn't) even when Piccolo trained him again, he let go shortly afterwards again, the only time we can see where Gohan actually mixes his scholar life and his martial arts life is during dragonball super heroes, where he actually has a more Saiyan style hairstyle and wears his clothing style from the Cell games.

You should check out the fanmade Legend a Dragonball tale if you haven't already Its really good and they actually made Vegeta such a badass with one of the best speeches ever.The only one that comes close is when batman in the dark knight returns explains while fighting the mutants gang leader in mud "this isn't a mudhole son, its an operating table...and Im the surgeon" and proceeds to break his arms and legs.

Okay, so Gohan ran for a little while.... but who would have trained Trunks (btw Vegeta's son) to get where he was to be able to transform into a Super Saiyan? Who would Trunks have to teach him in the little time he was taught. So Gohan running may have actually allowed Trunks to defeat the Androids later. How would Trunks become a super saiyan without it? There was literally no one else to train with.

The term bootleg existing would imply a similar Wild West history occurring in Dragon Ball as in reality which is kind of really weird.

I think his character evolution is more than most characters in animes. Very few have a development as detailed and extreme as his. From stuck up Prince of pride to loving husband and a good father. From someone who looked down on and killed those he deemed lesser to dying to protect people. Sacrificing was never something the original Vegeta would even consider. From one who saw himself above all, to one who became friends with many in his own way. He's an epic character, what's not to like.

Piccolo is gohan's true father jokes are getting stale and uncreative. They're about as good as Vegeta being a better father than goku during Z
