I would love to one day be able to come back to Vegas. But for now, it looks like there are still a large number of stability issues... Yes, maybe one day, as there are many things I still love about it.

I use Vegas Pro Post 365+ with many Third-Party-Plug-Ins (Mocha, Sapphire, BCC, Universe, Twixtor, RSMB ...) and it crashes very rarely. I "only" edit in 1080p though. Make sure to enable legacy AVC and experimental HEVC encoding, worked WONDERS for me. I work with Vegas 5-8h a day and it crashes only a few times a WEEK.
I feel so honored to be in this program with Vegas. Vegas runs on every kind of Laptop actually. What would you edit with Vegas?

I used a very old laptop and as long as you premake Proxies I have been able to edit even 4K footage on that piece of shit of a laptop, only requirement really is Mora than 8GB RAM to edit comfortably and selectively pre render as much as you want

You dont actually need a high End Laptop. With proxy's is it possible to edit all kinds of footage. But render time would take a while then
Just the fact that this software cant handle most used format today recorded on iphone tells you how unqualified and obsolete guys in vegas development teams are. This software will be history in 5 years

so a telephone is not a camera my friend. The codec is mostly trash in an iphone^^
