NV encoder is ONLY available if you have an Nvidia graphics card! If you use an AMD graphics card, its will show as AMD encoder

Great video, it seems like it cuts the render time by 50% so whatever time the video is by half. Very nice!

4:20 I'm surprised you know what effects those have on the video. If you choose preview however the render is even faster but you get slight choppiness. Will test out with best mode enabled. Thanks dude.

What do I do when I only see Mainconcept AVC and Intel Qsv instead of NV encoder?

what setting can i adjust on VP17 to see my video preview best. my 6 year old laptop and vegas pro 14 have smooth 30fs prevew. But VP16and17 I tried on my newer 4x faster computer cant play smooth preview at all. i have to click play 20x + to see a smooth preview. ive tried increasing ram usage for program ive tried making preview and proect low res to pick up speed. nothing is giving me smooth video display to do edditing and im stuck on VP14. any help guys?

But I played the video in media player the color is fine no problem at all. I already had so4compoundplug.dll and So4Reader.dll in my compoundplug folder. And I didn't use any filter. I'm on a laptop, it has an NVIDIA GPU, an MX230 to be specific, and after changing many settings i still could not get it to show NV Encoder but only Intel QSV, do laptops even support NV Encoder?

Yes, if there is less compression, your render time is shorter but your file size is larger. It's a trade off. I'd like to know if there are actual renderers that are faster.

NV Encoder only works on modern turing based nvidia gpus

I have a question. While using the Mainconcept AVC encoder my CPU reaches temperatures between 80 and 90 degrees, while the NV encoder makes my CPU quickly and constantly fluctuate between 40 and 80. Which one is more hazardous to my parts' longevity? What should I change?

I've already done what you've said but even when I choose NV encoder, it still used my cpu instead of my rtx 2060

when i make 25fps red zone videos it just looks like 60fps so I'll just customize it's fps

instead of nv encoder it showed intel qsv and i couldnt change the presets they were still greyed out

hey alex. i am trying to render a video i put together with many 4K clips in it. i tried using the 2160p 60fps (nvenc) option to render and every time it freezes the render around 20%. if you have any idea ow to figure this problem out i would appreciate it.

I followed the directions and in the Render window my CPU usage dropped from 90% to 55% thanks to the NV option. I have had renderings fail in the past due to CPU overheating.

When i changed the encode mode it just gave me an error

I have to run mine on 3 cores or the system will crash. Sometimes it will work with 4 cores.

I use Filmora and it lags so much..... I bought a lifetime access but maybe I should use other software. Thinking about Vega. 🤔

You chose Intel QSV because you do not have a Nvidia graphic card.

I wish you could explain a bit better what the difference is between the different encoding modes. Isn't NV nvidia? And that means that you're using the GPU? This is off course much faster than just using the CPU.

These are the encoders that let Vegas Pro render videos, the difference is how they encode. Normally the encoders use CPU power and they try to render videos in a very inefficient way. Starting from the Kepler-based GPUs the NVENC is available to choose. So older GPUs and other GPU brands should not have this option. This NVENC uses the GPU cores of your PC instead of CPU cores. The number of GPU cores could be a thousand times more than typical CPUs these days. Therefore, it can do the job without slowing your CPU down. Hence, the PC would run smoothly while the encoder is running. If you have an Intel-based CPU, then you would have another option to choose, and it would be called "Intel". The Intel encoder does the job in a more intelligent way so it is faster and more efficient than other CPU-based encoders. Speaking from more than a decade of experience working with Vegas Pro, I noticed that sometimes in very complex rendering pipelines - eg using too many effects and complex nested projects - one encoder could sometimes crash and you'd have to choose another encoder to render videos. That, however, rarely happened. Any Correction is appreciated if there is a false info here. Regards.

it's because of hardware acceleration, you should go to your vegas options and set your graphics card acceleration to none

It didn't double my render speed, but it did increase it by about 25%. Not too bad. I'll be experimenting with the settings a bit more to see if I can find a way to increase that even more. Thanks for the tutorial!
