    Your immersion in today's Egyptian culture is a remarkable example to the outside world. What a vibrant and multi-layered journey you provide for the KZread viewer. It's Claudia again, having departed Egypt at the end of November, she remains inside of me. Truly a world of enchantment and a people of great humility, enthusiasm, humor and hospitality. Way to go Gisselle, you're such a beautiful SOUL, I truly wish most ladies be as humble. You pronounce the names of all the Egyptian foods being presented exactly as Egyptians annunciate them! Only corn cooked "roasted" on red hot cook, you didn't say its name as Egyptians say it "Dora" but you correctly identified it as a affordable veggie snack even though corn isn't classified as a vegetable. I advise you next time you buy the hot corn, take some butter and/or Nutella and experiment. HAVE FUN😇@@Gventures

    @@glowysinger928 Nutella! That is a new one 🤣Where did you get that idea?! I have had corn on the cob with butter, that's how we do it back home in the US, but I have never tried it with nutella...it sounds weird, but I suppose you're going to tell me it's good...😅I'm open to try new things. Thank you so much for your support and kind words, that is very generous of you to say 🙏

    Great video! I must try many of these. Having come back from Egypt last month, I must say the variety of food is incredible in some restaurants. When I was in Alexandria I had the best seafood in my life! Fried Calamari rings with sweet chili dip was the best thing ever. Some restaurants had Greek, Italian, Mexican along with traditional Egyptian dishes on the menu. Even trendy new Smash Burgers can be found there. The patesserie cafes near the Alexandria corniche are out of this world! A highlight. Fresh and the highest standard of baking. All inexpensive! Like really really cheap prices for all restaurant food compared to Europe! Western currency is very strong in Egypt so you will eat like a King or Queen on very little money. I can't wait to come back!! Egypt has the traditional and modern when it comes to it's restaurants.

    Oh sorry, but I don't think I'll ever make that video. Firstly, I am not even sure I know what gluten is 😅 But if it is what I think it is (breads, pastas, dough, etc.), there is very little gluten free food in Egypt. Bread is a main staple of food here and eaten with almost everything. Most of their desserts are not gluten free, I'm pretty sure. I guess you can always just eat meat and rice, those are gluten free I think.

    You have to visit Alexandria for seafood if you are into it. I would recommend to try grilled Tilapia fish ( samak bolti mashwi ), boiled blue crab ( kaboria masloa'a) and tajin seafood with double cream. They are insanely delicious. :D Best seafood restaurants there are fish market, the Greek club, El Kataa'a. There are also some vintage Greek and Italian restaurants in downtown like Santa Lucia, Santorini in Helton corniche hotel ( a bit to the east ). Please try Sobia from Mecca ( a fresh juice shop ) and Sugar apple with pistachio ( halawet el eshta bel fosdok ) from Hassan ( another fruit shop in downtown ). Enjoy your time in Egypt.

    "Mosabaha" is another word for hummus, and they can't confuse it with chickpeas. Zooba is great! 10/10 Sweets (e.g. kunafa & basbousa) are usually made with ghee, so careful if you're vegan/vegetarian (idk what's the difference between them 😂)

  • @Gventures

    @Gventures

    6 ай бұрын

    Ahaha, well they might be confused as to what I am talking about if I say "mosabaha" here though, as they don't say that in Egypt. I just asked my Egyptian bf and he had no idea what that was. We googled it though, and I guess that word is more commonly used in the Levant, but Egyptians aren't so familiar with that term/don't use that word here. Indeed most sweets here are used with ghee, which makes them vegetarian. That is why I listed both desserts (and molokhia) as vegetarian and not vegan - because they likely contain ghee. Vegetarians don't eat the flesh of an animal - so they don't eat any meat/fish, etc. But vegetarians can eat products that come from an animal, like milk, eggs, cheese, etc. Vegan do not consume ANY products that come from an animal; that means no meat of course, but also no eggs, cheese, dairy, butter, ghee, etc. Some very strict vegetarians don't even consume honey! Because it comes from bees / bees make it.

In fact, a few of them have decided to stay and live in Egypt because they love it so much, just as I did. They just aren't making vlogs 😅But I have also seen a few videos by women who enjoyed Egypt. I know that Egypt does have a lot of negative attention online though, by both men and women. I think most "content creators" are just looking for views, so everyone writes clickbait titles like "harassed!" or "scammed!" just hoping people will watch their video. It is tough, because they use meat broth in a lot of things, I think. Finding vegan Egyptian food isn't extremely difficult, but Egypt is certainly no vegan lovers paradise either. You do have to be careful what you consume because of that meat broth, even if it appears to be vegan or vegetarian 🤦‍♀️

    Not sure about gluten free food, there are some options but it's not ABUNDANT. One of the main staples of an Egyptian diet is bread. Not sure how they make falafel. Foul is eaten for breakfast but usually with bread, otherwise it's just a bean paste. Maybe just fruit, veggies, rice and meat will be your options (if you aren't vegetarian).

    He is stating that konafa dates back to the Coptic era of Egypt and was originally used by churches during festivals, then it was later distributed to the region during the Fatimid era of Egypt. Additionally, I would like to highlight that the Levant konafa, specifically "Konafa Nabulsia and Shamia," is very different in concept from the Egyptian konafa. The Levant region includes countries such as Lebanon, Syria, Jordan, and Palestine. Konafa Nabulsia and Shamia are specific types of konafa associated with the city of Nablus in Palestine and the broader Levant region. It's noteworthy that the concepts and possibly the recipes for these variations of konafa vary across regions and cultures.
