This is from the end of a dark fantasy story I read on Reddit a while back, but I still think this music fits the passage here perfectly, even though the story is fiction.

Моему деду довелось жить в то смутное время. Его призывали по нескольку раз то в белую, то в красную армию. В зависимости от ситуации в стране. И ему нельзя было отказаться. Воинская обязанность была строгой. И те, у кого хватает черствости и дешёвого гонора хоть как-то осуждать тех людей, в следующей жизни попадут в обстоятельства, когда они будут вынуждены поступать в десять раз поскуднее и позорнее. Жизнь будет учить, пока не сдерёт эту гордыню вместе с кожей.

Если Русь сохранит Православие, она так и останется непобедима ! Вечная память русским православным войнам, казакам, нашим доблестным пращурам !

Нашли о чем спорить и перепираться. Нашим предкам выпала жесточайшая мясорубка, жесточайшие горести и беды. И они не выбирали свою судьбу. На обоих сторонах фронтов было много достойных и порядочных людей. И они были вынуждены не жить и мирно заботиться о семье и Родине, а воевать. Они достойны доброй памяти и милосердия.

I cant argue your points in terms of the Tsars ministers, 'poshlost' was everywhere and much of the 'nobility' acted more like Arab princes in Las Vegas than 'servants of the people'. ...but there were honest men among the 'Whites' just as there were 'Batyooshki' and 'Popih'. in the Orthodox Church.

In the West Cossacks are viewed as brutal warriors, but there was much more to Cossack culture than brutality and war. There were poets and writers and industrialists. В предыдущем тексте умудрилась сделать "опечатку" - конечно, хор Жарова. Лучший хор, певший на русском языке - и пронёсший знамя русской культуры в самые тяжелые годы. Безусловно, можно говорить о гениальности Жарова, сумевшего создать Хор как произведение высокого искусства.

:) Eh smotri...Dedushks dralsa ot 14ogo do 22ogo. Officers were being shot and by the end of the war he wasa Captain with a St.Stanislav. He was also a 'Graf'. It would have been suicide for him to stay. Its one thing to fight for your country and a whole other to be slaughtered like a lamb. Word had already gone out about what happened to officers who gave themselves up. Imagine America in the McCarthy period for Russians. I had three fistfights a week in the playground even as a child.. :)

Nationalism, racism, religious conflicts all serve to divide the nations, and then come those who think that war or civil war is the answer to the problems of poverty and ignorance. If the nations cooperated and shared their intellectual and technological resources the problems that drive these conflicts could be resolved. It is our leaders who seem to be unable to bring about this cooperation who I blame.
