I hope you had a great time at the show and took some stickers!! 👍
@0:52 Looks like Bill Herd wearing a Tilt-5 T-Shirt from Jeri Ellis start-up AR company.
5:35 Ahh the 3com Sharkfin, my first cable modem... So sad to see it go, but it gave me many years of free internet :)
Thanks again for hanging out at the show, Steve. I had a great time!
I had a lot of fun at VCF East. It was nice meeting you and a few other youtubers I watch. Inside the event building I picked up a boxed i815 socket 370 motherboard with 1ghz CPU, an Apple extended keyboard II, a PCI Sapphire Radeon 7000, some ECC DDR3 for my x58 machine, a 512mb DDR SODIMM, an AT cable for my model M, some slot blanks, a USB case bracket, and Microsoft golf 3.0. I was thinking about grabbing the Mac mini, until I noticed it was the base model. On the free pile at consignment I got a socket 370/socket A heatsink for the aforementioned i815 board, and an IBM PS/2 keyboard. It was a later one that is rubber dome, it it looks a feels nice. As for the things I bought at consignment, I got a $25 ProGen Pentium 133 AT Tower(with a cool ESS Sound card), A PicoGUS, a Mac Pro HD 2600 XT, and an Ergonomic AT keyboard that came with the PC. I hope to make it back again next year!
Thanks so much for putting this together!
Whoa! That's me @ 11:48, crazy! It was such a blast catching up with you and everyone else! Thanks so much for helping kickstart my -obsession- fascination with my Palm Tungsten!
Hello! Thanks for this great video, I'm the chap doing the Assembler Editor classroom for the Ataris at 1:46 :D I had a great time, my first VCF show, flew over from London to hangout with the FujiNet crew, which is how I'm linked in to all this :D Sorry I missed your talk, I was mostly helping out on the classrooms during the day, so missed most of them, did catch the panel including Amiga Bill etc though, so I'm somewhere on your left in that room. I hope to get attend more in the future, and I'll say Hi when I do!
Oh man, that floppy organizer is such a good find. I was looking for a nice one but didn't see that one or I would have snagged it out from under you ;) It was really cool to meet you, I wandered up to the booth while you were setting up the Laserdisc stack Sunday morning. The Eep and Sit Happens stickers are now happily at home on the side of my Mac SE.
Whoa, I’d have a hard time not taking those SGIs, Cube, and Sun Sparc gear home.
Great video and a fantastic shirt there at 11:53, @tayloramyshow!
Early north Jersey industrial skyline, I’m an all-set Cobra-jet creeping through the nighttime. Hey I spotted a GCC UltraDrive SCSI drive!
I was there last year, it was great to meet everyone and see all the cool stuff. I wish I could have come this year but the timing just didn’t work out.
Lovely video recap! There was so much to see, it was overwhelming! I mainly gave things away, trying to manage my finite storage space :) Gave away an Osborne, a couple molars and a couple cameras, then only brought back a PC TV tuner card and a gifted CR2032 board (thanks Ron!). Was great to see you briefly in-person and thanks again for the SCSI save!!! My 540c is alive again thanks to you :)
Wish we had that here in Australia
Thanks for sharing!
I was there. I'm hoping they get more buildings open so the exhibits (and the consignment) can spread out. Or find a new venue.
Sadly I didn't make it this year. I really enjoyed going last year and will likely attend next year. It was just an exhausting time this year for me to carve out a day to drive to NJ and then come back. (Next year I might get a room so I can just make a whole day of it and then sleep, and drive back fresh in the morning.)
I would have bought the LC-II setup with the accessories IF I was there.
Looks like it was a great show, thanks for the video!

Great footage! Thanks for the great tour of VCF East 2024!
Greetings from Brazil!! Nice experience there!! Thanks for share it!
Maybe my health and finances will cooperate next year and I'll get to go. We shall see! I have a lot of stuff I want to find new homes for.
Amazing video - thanks for sharing your experiences!! :)

The retro video type aesthetic from the Canon camera really suits the theme of this video - but yeah - not for everyone.
Went last year and truly enjoyed it! I was hoping to go again this year but timing didn't work out. Thank you for this video as I get to see the event!

On the cable modems portion, those all looked DOCSIS, has anyone managed to save any pre-DOCSIS headend equipment, it's pretty hard to find even the CPE side anymore of most pre-DOCSIS style modems, I imagine that most of the head-end gear was decommissioned in 2002-2005 time frame and who knows what happened to it by now, rotting in a storage closet, recycled years ago, the world may never know.
Does the "Behind the Screens" exhibit at 4:55 or so have a KZread or anything? As someone who grew up in a country largely devoid of large Coax/DOCSIS network deployments that gear absolutely fascinates me
How was that tray loading g3 imac @7:15 running leopard? is there a sonnet card i dont know about?
I bought the G4 Cube and it works! Unfortunately it’s missing the optical drive 😢

Ah dang, thankfully I think a lot of different Apple slot loading drives will fit in that space, even third party ones. Sadly a lot of them need fixing these days.

Just find yourself an external FireWire 400 drive enclosure big enough to fit a 5.25" half-height CD/DVD drive. If the drive burns discs, install PatchBurn or the like and you'll be able to make your own discs on that Cube.
9:04 was that a PMG3 running Copland? (Copland appropriately seems to have killed itself - that’s about all it could do I guess.)
Oh, hey that is me at 9:27 !! Thank you for visiting us! Awesome video, it help me see things that I missed because of being on the other side of the table all day. I loved the camera feed in the Pioneer Mac, I went to mess around with it multiple times, lol kzread.info/dash/bejne/dYqA0M6lmMepdqw.htmlsi=1iXpOpbLZwFLV9Sa&t=3870
