Among Stros fans there was a ton of hate for Maldanado but we're seeing how important a veteran catcher who pitchers trust is. In 2022 we were spoiled with Maldy, Diaz and Vasquez.

He's a rookie catcher which is tough spot but a catcher primary job is to catch. Hitting is gravy but if he can't make plays at the plate that's far more costly.

Watching that game was depressing. For almost all of the game it just felt like the Stros were going to lose. They were getting outhit, outpitched and outfielded. Even when they put two runners on in 9th it still felt like they were going to blow it.
