-- INFO --
This video shows you a full flight on the VATSIM network, flying from Bergen (BGO/ENBR) to Stockholm Arlanda (ARN/ESSA).
VATSIM is a network where pilots can fly in the virtual airspace while they are being guided around by air traffic controllers. All procedures are the same as in the real world, which (together with the realistic simulator itself) creates a very realistic environment! For more info, visit vatsim.net
This video was recorded on Thursday, 23 June 2017. A major thanks to the professional ATC of VATSIM Scandinavia!
VATSIM Scandinavia: vatsim-scandinavia.org/

I am NOT a real world pilot. Just a flight simulation enthusiast. I just wear the uniform for an extra touch of realism and for an 'aviation feeling' to the video. I don't wear the uniform for any other flights, just for these VATSIM videos ;).

    I would love to fly online this way, and maybe it's just me, but, even reading what the controller was saying I still could not understand him. Especially your push back clearance. You are to be commended for understanding your controllers the way you do. Your videos are still very informative. Keep up the good work.

    Nice video. I just had a flight with this company from Denmark to Spain. 3 things i did when I was flying simulators. Apron speed very low max 5knt. Used the onboard clock for timing the airborn time. When tkof is imminent (1min), flash fasten seatbelts 2 times (for the cabin crew). Good video, I liked it alot.

    Just as a note to all good friends and AviationPro (great video btw), many of us know how to use the WCA,( the difference between our heading and the wind, multiplied by the wind speed, divided by our TAS, for those who don't know) but mostly it is forgotten to be used in actual practice, it helps a lot in maintaining centerlines, trust me :)

    It's good enough, if you want to go next level with yokes prices will increasy massively. It's not really overreacting, the yoke movement you see in the VC doesn't really represent the input I give in the Saitek yoke that well.

    You've done a great job with this video - as usual - despite suffering with a cold. I am still working up the courage to go online (with Delta Virtual Airlines). This video gives me more confidence. It's really silly. The only thing I'm really worried about is understanding the controller when he gives me a string of letters for the taxi instructions. I don't know how you managed to understand the guy at Bergen. Hardstikke goed !!

  • @AviationPro

    @AviationPro

    7 жыл бұрын

    Thank you very much Theo! Glad you liked it. Indeed it takes some courage, but try to fly from small and not so complex airports. That way you don't have to worry that much about a string of instructions. Or fly from an airport you know well in real life or from your offline flights, that should help too :).

    Hey man! I let you know some differences with the Norwegian aircraft just in case you can change configuration. - We do not have angle of attack indicator. - We do not have round fuel indicators. We have the total sum indicator. - Also we have the option for compact display on the upper Display Unit. - We have RNP on ND and also Navigation Performance Scales on PFD. And for example we would never use Autobrake 1 as we have carbon brakes and that increases wear. ;-) Nice video!

    Haha, thanks! Well I used FS2004 for a long time as well you know, only switched to Prepar3D a year ago or something, it's still a great sim! :) What do you mean with telling you more about speed and altitude? You mean like during the flight? Thanks for watching!

  • @erwin55dk39

    @erwin55dk39

    Exactly, during the flight. We can hardly see the displays on the video. But as I said, it is always a great joy to follow you on your flights. And very exciting what is now technically possible, almost 14 years after FS2004. Sooner or later I will need a new PC, and then I may fly to the Netherlands, also using Prepar3D!! B.t.w, I had my first real flight late in life! I was 45 when I got onboard a Maersk 737 from Billund to Amsterdam, continuing to New York. It was the beginning of a nice travel life; have been all over the world, it was always a great feeling! Should you ever come to Denmark, let me know! hugs, E.

    Dat geloof ik graag! Ik heb jou shared cockpit vlucht vanochtend bekeken en het ziet er erg vet uit. In deze bergen naar stockholm video schakel je al snel over naar manueel vliegen bij het landen. Doen ze dat ook in real flights? Persoonlijk glide ik met ILS tot boven de runway lights, en dan schakel ik pas de autothrottle + autopilot uit en zet ik direct de throttle op idle. Maar nu twijfel ik of dat de echte procedure is haha :D

  • @AviationPro

    Another great video. They seem to get better every time. From what I heard you say, am I correct in saying that ASN is not compatible with P3D V4 and one should get AS16. I still use FSX and am a bit uncertain about moving to P3D V4 and all the changes, re-downloads of my various addons that I would need to do....

    Thank you! Yes I already upgraded to AS16 to get the free update to the Prepar3D V4 later. FSX and Prepar3D are for most developers separate product lines so they usually charge for updates. Some airports may work straight from FSX, but since they are not optimized for Prepar3D V4 you might experience issues. There's a topic on the PMDG forum about this.

    Great video! For some reason sitting an hour watching this flight was not boring at all, but very entertaining. I'm learning a lot from you in order to master the 737 NGX. I've one question: When communicating with ATC, your callsign is referred to as "North (Shadow?) 71 Golf". What's the "shadow" part? I can't quite make it out. Shouldn't it be something like "November Alpha X-Ray 71 Golf"? Excuse my ignorance.

    Thank you, glad you liked it! The callsign of Norwegian is 'Norshuttle'. Every airline uses callsigns to make the radio communications easier. For example, KLM uses 'KLM' (as in Kay El Em) as a callsign. British Airways uses 'Speedbird' as their callsign.

    Thank you very much for this (as usual) nice video. I have only one question: Where can I find out VATSIM airport SOP (standart operational procedures)? You said in a lot of tutorials that it is very important to know some facts about your origin/destination airport - for example if I can expect handoff form „tower" or tune directly „departure" frequency or if the engine startup/pushback clearance is provided by „delivery" or „ground." On VACC websites you can download usually a lot of charts, which I have anyway, but this informations I mostly don´t find. One exception is for example LKPR airport because you can find transparent SOP on VACC-CZ website :-) but where I can find this information about airports in other countries such as for example Germany or the U.K.? I am then very afraid from flying on vatsim, even though I am an ULL pilot, if I don´t know basic information about ATC procedures in the airport. Where do you look up this information, please? Thank you for your answer and for your praiseworthy work for a lot of aviation enthusiast!!!

  • @AviationPro

    @AviationPro

    7 жыл бұрын

    You're welcome! Thanks for your comment. You can look up that information in the Aeronautical Information Publications (AIP) of that country. They usually contain a list of aerodromes of that country and for each specific aerodrome you cannot only download charts, you can also view all procedures of the airport. For example here: www.ais-netherlands.nl/aim/2017-06-08-AIRAC/eAIP/html/index-en-GB.html you can select Aerodromes and then view information about all Dutch airports.

    Hi, I am back again with the same issue of going from FSX to P3D. After doing a lot of research the past few weeks, I have come to the conclusion of my two options and still don't know what is right seen as though I have not used P3D. That is why I am asking your opinion. My question is this - Should I stay with FSX and spend money on a lot of addons like ASN, REX, ORBX, etc., or should I use most of that money to just get P3D, the PMDG 737 (that I already have for FSX) again, and maybe only one other addon. I feel like you can get more "bang for your buck" by staying with FSX (as well as better performance) but I would appreciate an opinion from an experienced simmer. Thanks so much for your help not only now but in the past as well.

  • @AviationPro

    @AviationPro

    7 жыл бұрын

    +TheKillerGamer I have never used FSX, but the general consensus in the flightsim community is that not FSX, but P3D has better performance and designed for the future. Especially since P3DV4 has gone 64-bit, out of memory issues are out of the question and the general performance and reliability is better. It is likely that most addon developers will now fully focus on P3DV4 rather than 32-bit FSX. Go for the academic license of P3D, you will have a small watermark, but that doesn't undo the fun of the sim and saves you money. Don't spend your money on ASN, REX and ORBX for FSX, buy those addons for P3DV4. Just slowly build your way up with addons, and watch for sales. Start with your favorite and general addons like ORBX. And remember, you can just leave FSX installed to fly using addons you don't have in P3D yet ;)

    I've heard from a real 737 CL pilot that using the retractable landing causes slight drag, and therefore it is not used on takeoff. Do you think this is the case on the NG as well?

  • @AviationPro

    @AviationPro

    7 жыл бұрын

    Yes could be actually, at least that's why I have seen on some cockpit videos as well and it would make sense. In the sim it's more of a simplicity to press the space bar (in my setup in this case) to turn all landing lights on rather than to use the mouse in the cockpit to turn them on seperately. On some of the new NGs landing LED lights are installed and the retractable landing lights are removed, so in new aircaft those aren't used anymore anyways :).
