That is a great method of finishing. Patience is the key for certain. Thanks for posting this information.

How many coats do you apply this way? Have you tested it against a brush for durability? Minwax says do not thin, but it doesn't explain why

Hi Mark, All good questions. I think the manufacturers may have their reasons. I know Epifane only recommends their own thinner, so the reason might be financial. I do use Epifane BTW. I have nothing against Minwax (other than you can't buy it at a chandlery), but I find 8 or more coats of E last longer on wood that is exposed to the elements. hope you find this helpful.
