Idk why so many people compare this dress to Belle's dress. Belle's dress was completely ordinary if you ask me. Cinderella's dress, on the other hand, is a magical masterpiece!

I love that Cinderella's dress matched her personality without compromising the original design. It's elegant because of it's simplicity. It outshine the ballroom. Also it has butterflies which is a great callback to her childhood memories of her mother and father.

The classical blue dress for Cinderella is the beautiful highlight of the film. For me, Sandy Powell definetely will get an oscar nomination.

This movie had such great costumes. I love that they didn't go for period accurate, it makes everything look more fantastical and fairytale-ish.

the cinderella dress is stunning. Crazy how much work and detail went into this movie, but that's probably why the outcome was perfect!

As much as this wasn't a needed remake, just like all the rest, the fashion and visuals are gorgeous.

I liked how they expanded the story, you can see the people's cultures, the kingdom's culture, the relationship with other kingdoms, it's like way more detailed than the original movie but I think they were both pretty good! Different times after all, but both good

The way Sandy spoke about Cinderellas ballgown really did capture what she set out to do. She said she wanted it to move like it was a watercolour painting and it did. Also the dress was so simple and that spoke more than the other dresses that had so many details so she stood out from them. Cate Blanchetts costumes were such a strong vibrant classic Hollywood style. Plus Cate Blanchett moved well in those costumes. Sandy is an artist. Her and Colleen Atwood are incredible costume designers. Can’t wait to see what Sandy does with Disneys live action Snow White.

I love to hear her talk about how clothes help to build a character !

The dress was MAGNIFICIENT!!!!! SO AWESOME DRESS!!! THE DRESS WAS SO STUNNING THAT MY JAW DROPPED WHEN THE FAIRYGODMOTHER CHANGED IT FROM THE PINK ONE. I JUST LOVED IT!!! ITS MY DREAM DRESS!!

While this modern blue ball gown has become iconic, and the one in this movie is lovely, I still love the classic white dress from the 1950 animated feature. It's striking and angelic. Maybe at one point in time Disney started using blue for kids' dressup gowns so the outfit wouldn't get dirty as fast as white does, and it just "became" the color of Cinderella to which we're all accustomed.

I've heard it was because of marketing since selling white dresses to young girls would look too much like wedding dresses. And it's simpler and cheaper to make a blue dress instead of silver or silvery blue

The movie is the BEST Disney movie ever! It exceeded my expectations and Cinderella was my all time favorite from childhood. I have purchased the movie and watch it over and over....each time noticing something that I didn't notice the time before! Very Very good and the costumes are drop dead gorgeous. I would give anything to dress in a gown like that just once in my lifetime.

It should have been five time winner by now. She was robbed for this and "The Tempest".

I was so satisfied when I saw the dress, it is exactly how a Disney princess's dress should look like.

500 HOURS!?!?! It's beautiful though!

and they made 3 of them! 1500 hours of dress making to pull it off. They needed one for still shots which was a little longer to look more dramatic, a shorter one for walking and then a different one for dancing.

I love, love, love, love the dresses in this movie! Probably my favorite thing about it! Cinderella’s dress is a masterpiece and the step mothers dresses are so beautiful and elegant and intimidating.

Thought it was ok, but yes it should have be more. Like an ethereal flowing dress. What's funny; I liked the Enchantress dress from Beauty and the Beast more than Fairy Godmother's dress.

Everything about this film always sends my heart racing (I don’t even want to guess how much money I’ve spent renting it on prime to watch over and over again) and the costumes are no exception!! I would kill to be able to wear ANY of those dresses!! Amazing work

Me as a kid did but as I grew up, I related more to Belle on so many levels so now she's my fave

I love Cinderella's dress in the live action. It was just mesmerizing. Its a shame that the live action Belle's dress was just too simple, not eye catching... Not memorable at all, considering the era. In the animated version, I always considered it as the most beautiful disney princess dress but the live action dress didnt live up to my expectations.

I didn't like her wedding dress, uniforms of guards and stepmother's dress at the ball. The rest was a bit over the top for me (even the colours of this movie), but that can be because I am from Europe, from the Czech republic. I liked the Cinderella gown though, it looked really stunning, except for the butterflies.

There is a flaw in the logic of the outifts. A mother that is that impeccably and tastefully dressed (and controlling in nature as she is) would not in a million years allow her two daughters to dress that tastelessly.

The ball gown is ugly. I cant see it any other way. The blue is so electrifying and gaudy it comes off as ugly. The overlayering with tons of different colors and materials does do well to make it shift and flow, but the color shift and iridescence looks tacky combined with the electrifying blue. The butterflies on the sleeves are pretty, but honestly add to the tackiness of it all. And I hate the white highlighting the gown
