“A King Has Fallen. A Father. A Friend. A Warrior.” Hiya Folks! The culmination of sweat, tears and mucus (mostly mucus), I’ve finally completed my longest project yet, a true tribute to Varian Wrynn, my personal favorite character in all of WoW. That intro sequence alone took most of my time out of the whole video. Very surprised to see it come out coherently! Here’s to big hopes we get to see him one last time in Shadowlands. And Tiffin of course! Family reunions are great. There’s a lot more on his backstory, mostly covered in novels, but his story in WoW starts directly in WoTLK, after the whole gladiator backstory, Onyxia schemes, losing his wife Tiffin to the Defias riots, friendship with Arthas, and all that jazz. Take care for now!

Varian’s final hour in legion’s pre patch event was very emotionally driven and the team did a good job conveying that through the cinematic. Still one of the best to this day. But it’s also if you take into account the expansions you as a player has been there with Varian, all those quests & raids since Wrath, Varian was THE king. So it hurts when you see his fate on the Broken Shore.

Varian’s death makes tears on my face every time, and today end of his story in the video was no exception. What priceless heroes of the Alliance were before: Varian, Uther, Antonidas, Tyrion, Daelin. Such people are considered very rare pearls and it will be very difficult to find someone like them again. I cant see the same worthy replacements in the new generation. The death of such people is a shock and bitterness both for their world and for those who experienced their history with them.

  • @Athelarius

What makes Varian’s death hit harder is when you take into account all you’ve been through together as the Alliance since Wrath. All those quests & raids you’ve accompanied. And then to see his fate on the Broken Shore. It only hits you afterwards when you walk into SW keep and find that Varian is no longer there after all these years. Same can be said for other fallen characters. It’s all owed to good writing and development. Which not all characters are lucky enough to receive nowadays.

Varian already had Garrosh' number in Dalaran during the opening of Ulduar... Furious and powerful as Garrosh was, Varian was fár more experienced in battle. 1 on 1, Garrosh Hellscream would have lost 11 out of 10 times vs Varian Wrynn. (Ofcourse Grommash Hellscream would be a whole different story. I guess this is where Thrall's judgement comes in: Garrosh wasnt worthy of his father's Legacy?)

@@thegreenreaper6660 Oh hell no, Grommash was a blade master that had years of battle behind his belt, Varian was the beast of the arena, which might get him a slight edge... but I'm not sure about it. But Grommash, even unbuffed by the green demon piss was basically not only an attendant at every battle his people had over the years, he basically was their key point. Compared to him, Garrosh seems like the angsty kid with daddy issues instead of an actual orc

@@phantom1a2 Aye, Grom vs Varian would be one HELL of a fight i think. Garrosh was no where néar thát level of prowess and experience. Garrosh was just freakishly large and strong, even for an orc. Iirc, he even had to cheat to best Baine Bloodhoof by using poison?(which is considered cheating in a Mak'Gora? If Grom had known, he'd killed Garrosh himself for the dishonor of it?)

Grom despite being big and strong knew how to use this cleaver of his to cut down anyone who he saw wit ease, we never saw his level of skill with the axe on Garrosh who was just angry all the time. I know this might seem like a silly question but why exactly did Sylvannas retreat from the battle? Like I know Voljin didn't want everyone to die battling the legion but I don't think he exactly meant "retreat". I see that he was stabbed and needed help ASAP but since when does Sylvannas "care" about anyone elses well-being? Also didn't she know they needed to destroy the legion or else she wouldn't be able to rule anyone/ anything if everything was destroyed by it? It had to be stopped either way right? I mean did she know Voljin would make her Warchief if she brought him back home or something? Sorry I'm just lost 🤷

In years to come, Warcraft oldschool players will realize, that story-wise, Legion was the peak of the game. The biggest enemy of the Saga was on its full power, the storyline was SO forfilling, the cinematics were AMAZING.The game ended with our King gone and our #1 outcast character going on a space mission to fight Titans. What more can you ask? Yes, Wrath was ahead of it's time for an mmo, yes the timing was wright, yes we got to fight the Lich king. But Legion man... Put a pretty nice closer to. Long live the True King
