My name is Matthew and I live in a van. I lost my job due to "cut backs" from the pandemic of 2020 and decided to seriously restructure my life. I am also a single dad who needed to find a solution that would allow me to remain in my daughter's life and plan for her future. After tons of research into #vanlife, I knew it was for me.
From March 2021 until October 2021 I spent my days building out my Chevrolet Express 2500, which came to be known as "Lucky" and as of October 18, 2021 I have been living in Lucky full time.
The build was done with almost no experience on my end and I used the one incredible tool I had at my disposal - the internet - to learn what I needed to build Lucky into a very comfortable tiny home.
I have always had a bit of a passion for being in front of the camera and really enjoy capturing the world around us. This really played into how I was feeling after almost a year of working from home when I "commuted" from the bedroom to the couch. I was starting to feel extremely unhealthy, unmotivated and despondent. I HATED that, and that's not a word I like to throw around. This new lifestyle gives me opportunities I just didn't have before and I am so excited to be able to share it all with you.
I truly believe we all have the capabilities to turn our lives around, should we choose to do so - and if I can inspire you to shoot for something better then I have done a decent job and that will keep me going.
There is more to life than the consume, consume, spend, spend lifestyle I feel we have all been conditioned to follow and I just want to do the best I can for myself first and foremost. Our time is limited and I do not want to waste another second on a lifestyle that doesn't bring me joy!

I know this is extremely annoying and unexpected but I live in So FL, US…. May down here is boiling hot and humid. I really enjoy the snow scenes. I’m glad you didn’t pack it in and run to Hotel Walmart. It’s so beautiful. The snow is beautiful. Especially the first morning. Stunning. You did great!! And I’ve wondered for a while now why you haven’t taken advantage of the great outdoors and camped in the woods. Especially with a 20- 8:58 30 minute drive. I believe your thoughts of van life will pick back up now. Make every day a special day. You look more at home out there. 👍🏽❤️

A perfect silent camping trip in the snow. Canadian style. I respect the amount of comitments you live up to. You are are good father and videographer. A lot of people would have sneaked a coffee and rum and stayed put and enjoyed the snow scenes. You deserve a rest day.

Crazy weather!! Here in BC we have snow in the higher mountain passes too. Usually on the May long weekend we get rain and we are, but I love it. I want rain like that once a week until the end of August. I dread the fires that happen in the interior. It has been quality content Matthew and you managed it with Grace....literally!! Thank God for Grace to allow easy access on the roads. It won't last much longer and I hope you are out of it soon, but I just realized that was probably a week or so ago and we are still having strange weather.
Matthew the rotation of the Earth must’ve sped up, it’s the only explanation I can figure out for your hat to keep turning in one direction like that. You should start out with the words in the back and see if as a day goes by if they end up in the front. It should be an interesting experiment… to entertain me lol. It’s either that or you just turn your head to the right much faster than you do to the left. Perhaps that will be experiment number two.

An other perfect reason to have the solo firepit, you can enjoy a fire even if available pit is buried in snow. I'm so thankful for your videos they really help me stay motivated you give me such great positive energies. Been going through alot lately. I was talking to a friend today and she asked if I was seeing my therapist as I've been in such better spirits and able to push through more, I told her yes and he's the best and most affordable therapist out there. She asked what were your fees I said well I share a KZread premium membership so cost a few dollars for that and a Patreon membership. She looked at me and said let me guess it's that guy that you have that Be Happy It Drives People Crazy purple hoodie. I smiled and said absolutely. (purple as it's my favorite color and purple is the colour for mental health illnesses awareness) We laughed, she said I was crazy how can he be a therapist I said his vlogs are therapeutic and he ain't afraid to tell you to get your poops in a group. Reminds me that only dead fish go with the flow, set's the record straight tells me to go out there and be positive. She said to tell you she much appreciates you and yes she is now a subscriber of your channel, I said to her so I guess turns out you need a therapist too 😂. Much love 🤗🤗
Matthew, here is a little physical health lesson. It has been noted, snow shoveling is a physically demanding exertion. (Imagine that 😮) But seriously! The repetitive lifting and twisting motions puts serious strain on the heart/cardiovascular system! This "strain" is because the shoveling uses shoulders and arms (duh 😮) because most people don't really use those muscles consistently/regularly. AND, while in the upright position our blood pools in the legs and feet, so it takes more effort on the heart to maintain blood pressure to pump blood to the arms and shoulders. So, not only are your arms and shoulders tired, more importantly/significantly! your HEART is tired. There have been documented cases where people have had heart attacks from shoveling snow. Plus, most people are starving after shoveling snow, because you can burn 600 calories from an hour of shoveling!! One last thing. It is highly recommended NOT to eat a HEAVY meal SOON after shoveling, as it can ADD an extra load to your heart. Plus, drinking alcohol before or immediately after, increases the sensation of warmth, (why given to people with frostbite...) which can deceive your perception of the extra strain on your body from working in the cold. Just some food for thought. Plus explain why your so tired. 😮😅😊

Well those fijitas looked amazing. Would you consider getting some charcoal for your extended week long camping trips and then Cooking on charcoal for that good smoky flavor??? I don’t know if you have the proper set up for doing a couple of charcoals but boy I think that would really be tasty. The weather is playing a trick on you!

Matthew..have been gone for a week on vacation down in warm Cozumel. Got a nice suntan and now playing catch up with your videos..Snow!! Love how you just take it all in your stride. What can you do about it anyway? 😊😊 We make fajitas with left over steak..it all works yummy. Now that I am home I can get my viewing pleasures of your adventures in a more timely manner.. New microphone is great but I miss Penny’s meows..it is so sweet, so you will have to give her more speaking parts on the phone..she is a star. Take care from OK city.
