On Italian tours we drivers and tour guides used to remind passengers that Romeo & Juliet is a fictional play, and the balcony is just a tourist trap for mugs. That city (just like Lourdes) has lived well on a load of tosh for many generations.

Great place to be, better than the UK weather wise at the moment. Great commentary by Lou, sounds better than that other old geezer with her! This video lifts the spirits while enduring a damp, largely foggy UK winter. The funniest Crème Brûlée I ever had was in the Bolton Abbey Brasserie, the topping was at least 6 mm thick and some of the best ‘toffee’ ever!

Hi Greg. Watched some of your electrical vids this morning to help sort out a boat referb, subscribed and then this popped up. One of my favourite parts of the world, normally lucky enough to visit each year for sailing but not the last 2 years with Covid. All the best from down under in AUS. I could retire to that region tomorrow....love it. Btw ... try this .... Tor-Bow-Lay. Run that together quickly and youve got it. The Casa di Giulietta is a renovated 13th-century residence that once belonged to a noble family, the del Cappellos, who are believed by locals to have inspired the fictional family of Juliet Capulet in Shakespeare's play. The balcony was added to the building in the 20th century. (Info taken from the Guardian Newspaper 2021) Lake Garda is beautiful, so want to go there one day 👍

We love Garda and been there several times staying on Al Porto camping next to the lake in Torbole. (North End) as it's super convenient for windsurfing. Yes it costs a bomb to stay here. Beware that in the months of July-August its crammed, even more expensive and a bun fight to get on the campsites. You can't book ahead so its a bit of a lottery! One of the sites that's not as busy is Campeggio Bellavista as it doesn't back onto the lake. Turn down by the Lidl. Not sure what time of the year you where there Greg but it looks quiet!!

It was sept / Oct the campsite was still full only a couple of spots left. Still nice and warm in the sun.

60 to 80 euros omg glad you found a cheaper park up and what can I say greg WOW WOW WOW lake garda a defo on our bucket list as for that park up 11 euros for 5 hours I nearly fell through the floor 🙈😂😂😂 you no what baps is like with his wallet 🤣🤣🤣 so think we would give that a miss lol that collaseum was impressive nice to hear lous voice on the video too 😛 and new glasses I see 👀 😛🥰 great vlog xx

I am living in Australia for 4 years now but was born and grew up in Garda Lake/Verona , only discovered your channel not long ago as I am about to convert my little van here down under. Hi Greg, nice video. Next time go to Salo in the southwest of the lake. There is a small camper area directly next to the beach and about 10-15 minutes away from the city center. We stayed there now two times and we enjoyed! Best regards from Guido alias @vanundweg

We stayed at Riva on the lake many years ago, used the bus to get around the lake and then the water taxi for return, great on Sundays to see the locals strutting their stuff, passed this area on many occasions on our journey from Hungary to Genoa and then to Barcelona we always said it would be nice to do it again

You can do most water sports, great place for hikes or mountain bike trails too. Campsite was a great find 👍🏼😃

Good to see yourself and Lou again sharing your travels.We stayed at south end of Lake Garda and visited Verona on our way to Venice just over 4 years ago. Now we have a smaller van we might follow your route all the way from the Channel to Croatia.

Hi Greg! I was so happy to see you visit the places where I grew up. Verona is a great city, and I miss it so much! Just a bit of local folklore for you: the guy in the big bright costume with the huge white beard at 17.28 (to the right of the screen) is a local traditional carnival character called "Papà del Gnocco" (Father of the Gnocchi). Every year, a ballot is held to decide which candidate will have the honour of impersonating him throughout the carnival season! :)

We have been back to lake Garda a few times. When you have the weather it is lovely 😊

Been looking forward to this one 😍 Lake Garda and Verona/Venice was our first Family italian holiday together ❤️ The North of Lago di Garda is very good for consistent winds due to the funnelling/narrowing and a venturi affect around the stunning town of Limone which i think you could see behind you on the lake.. We were amazed every day in the afternoon how the winds would just appear as if by magic.. We have the best memories of that whole area around the Northern lakes 🇮🇹🚐💨❤️

Hey Greg, one of my favourite places to be, and the best vanguide handyman on youtube is there too! Hooraa! This is one of the most famous BASE Jumping spots in the world by the way - Half of the Videos on my profile are from Mountains that are in the background in your video here. It's really worth going up the cable car by 'Monte Baldo' near 'Malcesine' if you get the chance - See the lake from way above it; unbelievable view. Glad you're having what looks like an utterly incredible time! All the best guys =]

@@GregVirgoe learn to Skydive, get jump numbers up, then you can get Instructed for such. You've done a Paraglider flight now - You're one step of experience in to it! Haha. Hope I'm not being too off topic. Great shots of Lake Garda, never been there, but looks promising. But I bet in high season it will be rammed with people and campers... Verona seems to be nice too, love old stones to watch and I'm always wondering that these things still stand up after 2k years... 8-0 Wiki tells me, that Julia's balcony was a part of a sarcophagus, and mounted in the 1930's for the tourists, the building itself was a hostel and and a stable before... :-D Thx for taking us with you, have fun! :-D

It's lovely there. Still nice sunny. 26/night might seem cheap compared to 60 on camp sites. But then again. Really?! What are all those places thinking? And those 60 euro camp sites. Bonkers.
