Vanishing Point: A BeamNG Movie

The spiritual sequel to my original movie. The Dodge Coronet (by Stoat Muldoon) is back for a direct homage to the 1971 film "Vanishing Point." For behind-the-scenes looks and music from the movie, check out the links below.
#dodge #carchase #vanishingpoint
Making of:
• Anatomy Of A Crash: Be...
• Behind the Scenes: Min...
Music:
• "Potenza Del Deserto" ...
• "That Old New Haven" S...
The original Coronet files are apparently unavailable due to the many updates of BeamNG. Here is the link to an updated V1.1 version of the car:
www.beamng.com/threads/update...
The rest of the mods used here came either directly from the game repository or from this 3rd party site:
www.worldofmods.com/beamng/cars/
I cannot vouch for any of the files working correctly from this site. They are from many versions of the game, and likely many no longer work. But they are at least worth trying out, sometimes they end up running ok.

Just a fun fact for anyone not familiar with the original movie, the first 5 minutes or so is a pretty close shot-for-shot remake of it. I had to make adjustments where necessary, such as not having a good working helicopter and switching it for the Birddog instead. But overall the shots, pacing, and action closely follows the movie. After that 5 min mark it's me finding interesting places around the map.

Ive watched a KZread video which was 1997 Vanishing Point with no ads. I have more reason to love Challengers. Their the unsung heros of Movies, we dont have any 1970 Challengers getting used in films anymore. Idk if its bc their not desirable for filming in modern days, or if its because of rarity, but seeing that White Challenger rip through the desert with the black 68 Charger was really something. I have yet to see 1971 Vanishing Point and i plan to buy it on KZread before i turn 18. Heres to 2023 by the time someone reads this! 12/21/2022 8:24 PM EST

I swear, your love for Mama Mopar unyielding and unwavering, I pray that Dodge calls you to do up a commercial for them; I KNOW you would do an amazing job of it and this video stands as solid proof! But, I am baffled about something: Your attention-to-detail concerning the Dodge Coronet 440, which I'll stick my neck out here and say must be your favorite Dodge musclecar, and rightfully so (both the 1970 coupe and that 1968 police vehicle), the use of the multiple 1965s, and especially that 1953 Coronet police vehicle, has me wondering why you didn't use Kowalski's 1970 Dodge Challenger RT 440 in your reinterpretation of the 1971 original? But this in NO way detracts from your fantastic work. And, even this effort is FAR AND AWAY BETTER than that stupid 1996 remake (though, I do like Viggo Mortensen very much as an actor). Please continue to do these great, epic interpretations of some of the best movies Hollywood ever came up with! I'm a 70s baby, too and proud of it! 👶! 🐰

Hey, Papa, thanks for the kind words! Believe me, if there was a good 70 Challenger available, I would have used it. It's actually my favorite muscle car, thanks to Vanishing Point and some early adventures experiencing the raw power of it. There IS an older mod available in BeamNG but it is nowhere near the quality I would want for one of the "star cars" so I used the Coronet instead. In fact, I didn't know much about B bodies and I've come to love them directly because of my time filming with them. But I do have a limited palette of cars to choose from in the game, so I do the best I can. If you haven't seen it, I did a little "making of" for this that you might find interesting.

A bunch, especially in the mine chase and when dealing with AI who want to hit me and not work WITH me lol. Now I wish I had kept a count, but I think the total number of completely wrecked cars was maybe around dozen, and a larger number with lesser, repairable damage.

That’s not an easy question and people have debated it since the original movie came out almost 50 years ago. Even people that made the movie don’t all agree. My own interpretation is that the movie has many of the same themes as some classic westerns, and more recently explored by the Red Dead Redemption games. The driver, Kowalski, has been left behind by the world and doesn’t quite fit in anymore. Like the dying breed of cowboy, he personifies free will as he rides his white steed across the desert while being pursued by the law and order of civilization. He finally reaches the point where he’s dug a hole too deep that it’s clear he will be overwhelmed and there’s no going back. He won’t let his free will be taken from him, so his last option is to go out fighting. He chooses to defy the barricade, and up until his last moment he is a free soul, choosing to die on his own terms rather than let society take his existential freedom.
