Some of the the imagery of the "shadow people" is surprisingly frightening. At least to me it is. When they take the person's physical body and all that is left is their silhouette of where they were once standing seriously freaked me out for some reason. It's a very subtle scare tactic. Nothing is really overblown such as ear bleedingly loud jumpscares with tons of cgi and silly looking "monsters." I find that the more simple it is the more scary it is. I personally had no issues with this movie that were even remotely bad enough to not give it a perfect rating. That's just my opinion though.

Reminiscent of the horisima shadows of people ....

Seeing this review on 2019. Oh well... This movie sucks in terms of writing but it has a great atmosphere. The begining was very spooky. I hope someone remakes it one day into a good movie

I'd say it is a pretty good movie on it's own, but it definitely could be made better now-a-days. I mean, I'd surely watch a remake of this, genuinely scary premises are somewhat lacking as of late.

In the remake I want to see the people getting spared after finding a way to vanish the shadows completely.

the shadows were the creepiest part of the movie

You ever notice John ligizeamo dies in every non comedy movie he's in so like 80 % of all movies

This movie started out fairly well in the beginning. Also, both Thandie Newton and Hayden Christensen were quite good in it. Then, the movie progressed, and it grew worse and worse and worse and ... .

Dude so can you tell me what that chromatin word or what ever it was means? They never said and what I looked up on it i'm not sure if its what they meant. Anyone know??

I normally search the web to see what other people think of this film as I thought it was dreadful. I was surprised by the review; did i miss something. Why does the boy, James, vanish when he left Paul on the pool table and then re appear later. Was this a dream?

Dude I seen this movie the other day with my wife that's actually why I'm here I found it at a Dollar Tree. Me and my wife actually really liked it wasn't bad.

Exactly! Actually I have many problems with the movie. SPOILERS BELOW Why didn't Luke tell the others of the broadcast he saw? Why did Luke stop running when he saw the headlights starting to die? He could have made it to the candles. Why was there a generator INSIDE the bar? People would have died from the smoke it was giving off. Why do fresh batteries drain instantly and the glow sticks not work when they're new too? What did CROATOAN mean? Did the darkness spread to other corners of the earth? Is everyone really dead or did they teleport to somewhere else? Why did only certain cars still work? So many unanswered questions.

Opens with saying "oh my God", about a rapture type movie premise as the 1rst video of Chris' return....I get it.

I guess I felt like everyone else. I loved the story , acting and everything , it was decent to say the least. but there were three things I resented in this movie : 1. luke's reaction to airplane 2. three days later 3. the ending in the ending I felt the director was like " oh you know what F it , I'm done with this crap , let's kill all the characters and move on "

I was disappointed with this movie because it left so many questions unanswered and unexplained. Why did the two kids get to survive? What caused it? There is no reason given for why it happened and why it ended.

Said exactly what i said in my personal review, that three day period KILLED it, couldve been 5 stars but its 4 for me. Even if it was extended 30 mins that wouldve been more than enough.

I saw this for the first time last night. I agree. It was really that bad. I almost feel like this should have been a mini series versus a film. They shouldn't have cut the 3 days out. It would have been nice if there was a little more explanation on what was happening and on why the sun was coming up later and going down sooner? Like how is the whole world engulfed in total darkness? Where do the people really go once they're taken? And the kids clearly don't get away because the sun will be completely gone soon. It probably shouldn't have ended the way it did.

I didn't like this movie much, but it gave me an idea for a screenplay. Instead of people vanishing and leaving their clothes behind, people's clothes vanish, leaving them behind That is easily explained by creatures from a faraway planet stealing the clothing and redistributing them to a mega intergalactic Goodwill. Maybe not.

this movie was based on the mystery of croatoan as its said in the movie. kinda weird since its based off a real life mystery. would be scary if all of a sudden this happened in real life😂

I could have forgiven some of its flaws but that ending just sucked so bad.

No. I actually liked Outcast. He is better off with Liu Yifei than he is to Natalie Portman.

I hated that Hayden Christensen's character, Luke died. It was kinda annoying.

Sorry Chris but you got got it wrong on this one.Ihave just watched this film and it cost me £5.00, The shop i got it from should of payed me, for taking it of there hands.Like you said to cut to it being three days later left a lot of qustions unanswered. Even when the plane came down near him, and it was a large plane he just carried on walking away from it as if it was an everyday thing. Also when they first saw the little girl.not on of them went after hershe couldnt of been more then 3 or 4. You just wouldn't of left her on her own.Also to make a film without an ending was wrong because it wasn't a good enough film.I am giving this film 2out of 5. And thats being kind. We didn't learn a single thing as to why they were not taken away with the others. Surely if i and many others were in the same position, we would of least tried to find the answer. So watch it if you haven't so far,but be ready for a big disappointment.
