Apparently one thing they said in Death Row when they were working on his 1993 album was; "Vanilla Ices ghostwriter needs a ghostwriter". Hes probably a swell guy, I have nothing against him, but Ive heard enough conflicting stories that I doubt just how much involvement he had on the record. I doubt he wrote 100% of the album or 90% of the album. Ice was already rapping when he met Mario. It seems like he had him look over his lyrics to see if he could make them better and he took credit for all of it when it blew up.

Its a bullshit story. Chocolates story changes every time he does an interview. First he helped write one song, then it was five songs, then it was 8 songs. Now its 9 songs! Vanilla did take credit for all the songs once he got big but you can see the credits on his original album. There are a couple of songs not written or produced by Ice. He gives credit where credit is due. Mario is even credited - for co-writing Ice Ice Baby! Thats it though. He even talks about him in his autobiography. Whats interesting is that they break this down in the documentary on Ice Ice Baby. Chocolates roomate at the time was D.O.C. and every lyric proposed by Mario actually came from him. Mario, despite getting credited and paid, didnt contribute shit.

What I'm surprised about as being a writer myself, is why Mario never said anything until now and why didn't he sue Vanilla Ice before the album came out? He had to see a preview of what songs Vanilla chose on the discography and publishing and credits would have also been known. The money is always in the writing, so there's no f*ckin' way I would have written any songs for that man and not get my royalties from it. I'm not sure what Mario was paid for being the ghost writer, but he most certainly got a bum deal for it to have turned out this way. Did he miss something in the fine print? Ain't No way!!!!!! I'm astonished that he took that for so long. He's a much better person than I. God bless you!
