Vanilla Automated Printers (Factories) - Space Engineers Basics
Ойындар
A brief video going through what an automated printer is,
why you should want to have one, and how to build one yourself.
No mods, no scripts. Just vanilla Space Engineers and some creativity.
It's my first time attempting to make a "How to" video, so constructive feedback is welcome.

I've seen these, never used and looked to complicated. Great explanation.
when I am printing small grid I have the printer wall fixed and push the projector away from it with the projection facing the printer wall. On larger grids where you need a nested piston setup its just easier for me to not worry about plumbing it all up, a projector just uses power. I normally do all my large printing in space so I don't have to worry about gravity. My standard printer wall is a 3X3 set of welders with a two pistons above that when fully retracted are slightly behind the welder wall. The pistons will have a rotor with a small head and a line of bocks out from it to which I have a number of projectors mounted, one for each vehicle I may wish to use that is preset and always has that blueprint in it so all I have to do is turn on that projector and hit the go button. Each blueprint will have a bit of spline going up to intersect with line of blocks from the rotor that you just cup away when all is said and done. Remember when you are printing in survival you have to load your printer, your projector will tell you what blocks are used in the projection so just add them right into your assemblers production list.
The murloc sound in the intro made me laugh uncontrollably. Liked.

A bottle of water
Hearing a Murloc growl is EXACTLY what I needed to cure my 2021 blues.
Thats the best intro ive ever seen. I just stopped the video in awe and watched it again and again.

Indeed
great video that you so much. I was having trouble hand welding a ship from the workshop as kept missing some of the internal componants. with your welder setup it was able to get the full thing done without missing anything. great build and very easy to setup and follow what you did in the video. thank you.
Nice video learned some new things aboat printers.
put a sensor on the welders and have it set to pistons to go back on option 1 and extend on option 2. it acts like a tattoo gun and u can set ur piston to fast
Cool tutorial been looking for one like this thanks random guy on reddit!
Before cutting the printed vehicle free, I'd always suggest checking the projector to see if any blocks are still reported as unwelded so that you can finish welding then up first. This doesn't catch partly welded blocks, but avoids having them not existing at all.
Block sizes: Large: 2.5m Small 0.5m also whenever i make a ship printer its just a wall of welders
Great video, Any chance you can make a video where you show how to build the whole platform the projector is on? It looks amazing.
raise the piston up, put it on a rotor, and spin it so you can turn it into a larger printer. instead of just one line, you can print the tops and bottoms of ships as well
the welders dont want to work, the light on the end of my welder is red, does that mean anything?
Nice video! What’s the mod that give you info of the block you are building? Like variant, weight etc

It's called BuildInfo, there's also another mod called Build Vision which lets you access control panel options of a block by just looking at it and pressing a button
Nice what if there's not enough steel plate as buggy need. Do it stop print until you have enough or it will keep prininging let otheter object fall out due to lack material?
Lol that intro
Is there any way to autoload the components for production?

the piston transports the components, that's why he connected directly to the cargo output

You can use a script like Izzy's Inventory Script to maintain a certain amount of each component. Queuing all the required components to production (before you start) would be quite time consuming, even if you have a list of exactly how many of each component you will need.
So do you need the steel plates and stuff or is it just taking iron directly from storage or do you need a assembler to do it for you?

You need to have the components available
I learned a lot, but you kind of briefed over the aligning and I'm not sure what I'm supposed to do

You have to have a part of the projection touching the same grid that the projector projecting it is on. And line it up so that your setup will move welders across it. Hopefully that helps.
Hey bro nice video , but it didnt help me. I try like 2 weeks but nothing is working. What im trying ? I try to build a Drillcar that dig in to mountains and build 2 lines under the wheel like a street. It should help to keep the horizontal angle , that the diggingvehicle stays perfectly horizontal. My plan is so make a vehicle that dig in to the mountain and build the tunnel with steel in same time. I hope u understand what i mean , and i really hope that u can help me with this
