i have same but alum and the Vanguard pistol grip... and yes..its versality for me in my wheelchair.. makes for awesome tripod.. good overview.

I imagine the pistol grip would greatly change how I interact with the tripod, has that been the case for you?

I have the Aluminum and love it. I now have 2 Vanguard tripods and they are really nicely built and great quality even the ball heads.

Nice review but in my 27 years of selling camera gear I've found out two other important criteria, durability (ie will things start to get loose or fail? Is it easy to repair?) and the other is stability (how well does it dampen vibration from wind, etc?). I'd also want to know if when tightening controls does the camera stay pointed where you positioned it or do you have to allow for backlash?) INHO only two brands of tripods earned my trust and recommendation, Bogen (Manfrotto) and the highest quality tripod award for me goes to Gitzo. And I did sell Vanguard's brand of tripods, bags, etc.

hi! I finally bought this awesome tripod but there is a small problem with one of the legs. one of them isn't firm enough how can I adjust the friction of the legs Like Manfrotto tripods?

If it doesn't shake with the arm extended it would be a great macro rig! The spud in the side could be used to mount all sort of goodies. External off camera flash arm or, a tablet holder for viewing a larger screen shot , etc.

I think that depends entirely on what you would be using it for. But honestly, either way it is a truly great tripod and I don't think it will affect you too much either way :)

Hello. From your review, I could not understand the following: does the removable platform have a handle on the screw? Or does the screw only need to be screwed into the camera with a screwdriver?

It has a plate that attaches to the camera.

I wish you put links up for the specific products; like the camera backpack. I own the aluminum version of this tripod; it's great.

That extension arm looks awfully jiggly. I can't imagine it would be very stable and would be frustrating to try to tighten the clamps. Did you try any long exposures to see how it held up to wind and normal use?

I have Vanguard Alta Pro 283CT and it is pretty stable. I took many long exposure shots and time lapse with it. I know its not indicative of this model but overall their carbon fiber tripods are good. My only gripe is leg's angle extension is too stiff.

They are all still in great shape and I am still using them.

263CT is 3 sections and taller. The 264CT is shorter and 4 sections.

Are the amy you would compare it too?

Hi Jay. An interesting tripod, however, I have zero experience with Vanguard products, so can't speak rto their quality firsthand. However, in my 40 years of photography, using many tripods, I can absolutely recommend the FLM CP26 Travel Tripod! It has super-strong 10x Carbon Fiber legs (with a 26 lb load capacity!) with very well-made twist locks, and a ball head that has several unique features that I've not seen in other tripods...For example, the "Pan" function permits butter-smooth normal panning, but in addition, adds a 15-degree ratchet function that is fantastic for us landscape/panorama photographers! There is also a "Tilt" knob that limits the ball head to only one vertical/up/down plane available. And finally, there is a "lock" function that locks the ball head from panning/turning, so that it can easily be unscrewed and/or mounted solidly. The kit comes with very well-made screw-on metal spikes, and folds up to a compact 15.5" for travel. Quite ingenious and precision design overall, and highly recommended for travel!! Bottom line: This FLM tripod simply exudes Quality. FLM-Canada supplies the US. Thank you, and Happy 2018!

Don't bother checking it out. He is not interested in your productvideo, he just wants to advertise his product. He is putting the same message at a lot of this tripodvideos.

You can put a friction clamp in that extra hole

I have had two copies both faulty out of the box, if I get one more faulty copy I will demand a refund, I am yet to even attach a camera to one, there is chipped paint and slight defects on both copies, I’m skeptical of the quality control.
