Vancouver Overview | An informative introduction to Vancouver, British Columbia

Vancouver is a world class city. My wife and I visited Vancouver on our honeymoon and the city made a great impression on me. I think it's without a doubt on of the most beautiful cities in the world. In this series I briefly cover a city's history, population, skyline as well as a few things that make it unique. Thanks for watching: Vancouver Overview | An informative introduction to Vancouver, British Columbia.

*I had previously uploaded a video about Vancouver a couple of years ago, but I wasn't a huge fan of it so I thought it was time to make an updated version.

Montreal has more to offer ( underrated )than Vancouver ( overreated)... Montreal ranked # 1 in the world for sustainability , Vancouver #4 .... Montreal is the canadian capital of culture, architecture, history , food, fashion , arts , UNESCO world city of design, largest urban park in Canada . The St Lawrence river is more impressive than teh bay in Vancouver ..... Quebec province offers more diversity of landscape, wildlife and the best quality of life in Canada . Vancouver is an asian city with the highest crime rate in Canada , drug addicts and homeless ... and unilingual...

It’s such a gem because its a big city, so theres a great night-life/big city activities, but also is on an ocean (which has beaches and fun beach stuff to do) and has some of the best hiking/mountain biking in the world, along with the best ski resort in the world.

It’s not expensive to stay or visit Vancouver. Most Americans find it cheap with the exchange 🇺🇸-🇨🇦rate being massively favourable. However, in terms of purchasing *land* … because it’s hemmed in by mountains, rivers, ocean & USA-Canada border … land scarcity creates a higher demand on supply availability.

The skyline in much of Vancouver is more East Asian or Mediterranean (e.g. Israeli, Greek, Italian, Iberian) or Latin American than typically North American in terms of there being lots of high-rise apartment buildings with the office buildings in the central business district being not much higher if at all.

  • @bensanders7392

For American viewers that 33m minimum height of buildings is 108ft and the average height of the 5 tallest buildings combined is 554ft. That suspension bridge over that river would be equivalent to 230ft....off of the river.

00:03:18 - this shot is *NOT Stanley Park* >>> it’s instead, Portside Park (aka CRAB Park*) another park flanking the eastern central downtown waterfront of Burrard Inlet. ______________________ * Why is it called Crab Park? Portside Park was first envisioned / lobbied for by a local neighbourhood committee known as *Create a Real Available Beach* or “ *CRAB* “. Though the park was officially named Portside Park in 1987, the community moniker of “CRAB” has stuck as the preferred name over the past number of years.

It is just so incredibly unaffordable here. I've lived in Vancouver for 5 years, and prices have soared exponentially. I do, however, think there is a lot to do here if you love sightseeing and food. Transit is also amongst the best in North America. The climate is comfortable and the mildest in Canada during the winters. It rains often from October through April, but does have very dry and sunny summers.

it's incredibly overrated man, it has it's moments, the food and drink scene is great, and the nature is next to none, and for the more sort of lazy individual it's a very "easy" city to live in in terms of its size and ease of getting around. downsides are like you said, the horrendous drugs and homelessness and the sketchy situations this brings, the constant rain and greyness, it has some of the ugliest and dullest architecture i've ever seen and the people here are really, really lame. however it's easy to carve a decent life here, depending on what your field of work is it isn't nearly as expensive or unliveable as people say (if you work in hospitality you will thrive) and it is a very healthy place to live which is important to me as I get older. there's also so many expats here and people from other provinces although the locals can be annoying there's heaps of other people to make friends with. I guess you could say I love to hate it!

If you are a US citizen, please be careful about the towing scam. The Canadian parking police love to tow US citizen cars. Just saying it

And you completely ignore the Downtown Eastside, the drug addiction, the shortage of affordable housing, the segregation of the working poor low income people, the catering to tourism rather than taking care of the actual citizens of the city, how other provinces and cities ship their drug addicts to the Eastside, the constant pandering to luxury developers who want to build luxury condos no ome can afford rather than building affordable places that everyone can afford. This video is a very privileged and entitled view of Vancouver.

The rocky mountains are beautiful , not the blend architecture of Vancouver ( all the same glass buildings) . City of new trees , no green space, concrete, glass towers , poor architecture . Vancouver is overrated and not a cultural city . People are in leggings and rude
