I have noticed in some of these types of videos is that the parents always have seem to have a king-sized bed as well.

Love how you created a divider wall between the top bunks for the older children. You are really considering their needs.

I’m the same! I’m planning a van build for myself and my dog and I have friends saying “what if I want to come see you on your travels?” - I’m like… errr get a hotel close by?? 🤣🤣 I only want a bed, a shower, large fridge freezer, toilet, kitchen/possibly small sitting area and solar and to be able to drive round Europe with my dog! Just need to find a van and a van conversion/builder - cause I can’t knock a nail in! 🤣😖🤪

Everyone is different and copes differently, but we love it.

Well done on a fabulous build. As a mum of 5 I know how tricky it is (was) to make sure everyone has what's needed to travel - no you don't need 5 jumpers 😂. So much organisation and tetris moves but when I look back now after 15 years, these were the best times.❤. Enjoy your travels, more importantly, enjoy making memories. ❤❤

Great set up - just a thought, you should get a set of longer legs and make a table out of that bed for rainy days if you're stuck inside.

​@KimberlyLetsGo Agreed not enough ventilation. You got everyone a place to sleep in this sardine can not much after that. Its ok for camping trips but not actual living, hardly a bathing area😮 A hard NO😅

I would get one of those tents that go on the back of the van gives you more space

Amazing setup! We are a family of 6 in a ford transit, we also managed to fit in, but in the end we went with buying a roof tent to give us more space and not have to convert things back and forth all the time.

Great imagination and innovation. Hope you make lasting memories.

Truly lovely, efficient & comfortable set up ~ so impressive! How thoughtful to arrange the extra leg room for your tallest~ I'm sure he's grateful. Our youngest son was already 6'4" at 14 yrs old, so I understand the adaptations. The experiences & memories you're blessing your children with are priceless~ such a wonderful life they're having. Not to mention the cooperation skills, patience & tolerance opportunities, also priceless, imho. My husband & I live & travel in a 21ft Vista Mini class C that's 7ft across at widest point, & somehow you seem to have more room =) We could pare down some more I suppose, yet w/just the two of us now, it's actually more than enough. Thank you kindly for sharing your build in this post.* I notice you both still have all your hair, which means you're already modeling enormous patience yourselves~ well done!

The only thing we didn't see was how you cook your food. You mentioned that on one trip you had a microwave along. Do you have a cooktop? Cook outdoors? We were amazed at how much storage you created and still had room for each of you to sleep comfortably! 😊 It took a lot of planning to accomplish that.

@@bobbigeehan7221 To me? Better than a mat on the ground in a tent. 🤷‍♀️ Navy sailors don’t seem to mind either. Don’t know what to say otherwise if it ain’t your thing. They are camping, and having adventures with a place to sleep, not living in it full time.

That’s amazing! We have 5 kids. All ours are tall, oldest being 6”8. We have campervan caravan and take the car. So we have a place for all of them 😂 still love camping tho

I would need to see this with all 7 people inside it to really see how it works. Those 4 seats look less comfortable than in an airplane. Where does everyone sit (presumably) to have meals? Or is this only used in good weather so you're outside? That top sleeping area for the littles is positively claustrophobia inducing. I live in a conversion van with 2 cats and people wonder at that. 😳😂

We’ve just taken a 9 hour flight to Florida and can say our van is more comfortable but each to their own and all that. We love our van but thanks for commenting. It all helps 🙌🏽

Interesting set up how everybody fits. But, no food in the fridge or in the cabinets, no storage items in the storage pockets in the toilet area, I’d like to see how they actually use it unless they buy food every day? I don’t know, that part seemed a bit strange

Id' like to know how you get all those electrics off of one battery. I've got 2 batteries and a solar panel, no inverter as the 3000watt inverter I had was draining the batteries too much. I'm freezing in the winter and boiling in the summer. So, I'd like to know what I have done wrong? It would be lovely to live completely off-grid, but I can't because I don't have enough power for the heater in the winter nor the fans in teh summer. I've resorted to buying one of these Ecoflow batteries, which is really noisy when I power it up via the solar panel (which smashed soon after I bought it!) and it's really noisy. You have managed a great set-up. I just wish I could get mine sorted.

This is a great conversion. Please can you tell me what model dc to dc charger you used please. And i guess you are using 2x 190w solar panels. Thanks in advance Tony

Hi Tony, we have a CTECK dc to dc charger, this also acts as the solar MPPT. Yes we have two solar panels. 👍🏼

Well done, great. Just wondering how you’ve got that front bed fixed up above the cab. How did you get it fixed to the sides of the van to hold the weight. Thanks.

Thanks, the bed above the front cab is supported by the van’s chassis beam that runs across the top of the cab, we then fixed a ikea Skova beam further back to create a bigger bed, this was bolted to the van frame using brackets from a hardware store that we bent into the correct shape. Hope this makes sense. 👍🏼

cool van build. seems cramped yes you make it work but its still cramped. For such a busy van i would want to hinge half the bed so it can tilt and push back becoming a sofa. Then again if i had five kids i would convert a coach or a double decker bus or a box truck and have an upstairs

For that amount of 7 in that van it's so so small n it looks very uncomfortable n claustrophobic but besides that the van self-made looks amazing😁😁💜

Thanks, this is a Peugeot Boxer XLWB extra high roof. We do plan on using it in the winter with some minor upgrades. 👍🏼

How do they climb up their beds? I don't think I can on my own without a ladder or climbing like spiderman on the walls and grasping on things.. hehehe I'm also baffled on how 7 people can have a tiny space in the garage for their bags and clothes. Really impressive minimalism. 😀

We currently don’t have a shower, it’s on our list of upgrades. For now we use Park4night app to find all the local showers in the areas we stay.

Overall, it’s not really a bad van. I would say that if you’re travelling around York for five weeks and then it’s going to be very classy phobic. I would also say personally, I never liked facing that way when I’m travelling like to forward where I know I’m going In theory, I’d have to be sleeping just at that top Also, do you have like an awning or something that you can add to it? So I in the daytime or something or wherever you’re travelling for a couple days so that you can have an opportunity? What do you do when the kids are sleeping?

Climb or get lifted up. We did buy a ladder but it isn’t very practical.

For travel, (and we traveled for a year in a 30 ft motorhome) we spent all our day time outside playing and exploring. Basically the motorhome was for sleeping.

We created a space for a shower but haven’t set one up yet. I doubt we will now as we much prefer to use that space as our toilet & extra clothes / toiletries storage. We shower at swim / gyms or campsites

Our van is for travel. At the time of filming, we weren’t travelling in it hence the empty cupboards.

Why not justbuy a large campervan? Pre built for up to 8 depending on model and storage space for clothing.

We are in the Uk 🇬🇧 there isn’t any prebuilt models for 8 people, hence why we custom build our own. They don’t do RV’s over in England.

@@natasham5550 if we worried about something small like closet space, we wouldn’t of visited Scotland, France, Spain & Portugal since April this year. It’s how you look at things and this comment isn’t relatable to our mindset. We’ve made so many amazing memories in our van and not even gave closet space a thought 🙌🏽
