Well the 70s wasn't nostalgic for everyone! It was the decade where violent crimes rose to over 130%. Depending on where you lived, the 70s was like a war zone, just look at New York City in the 70s! The city was on the brink of bankruptcy, crime was rampant and gangs ruled. Pandemics could of happened at any point in time, its a good thing it happening now. Crime rates are lower and technology is better. Sure the music was better, I guess.

Born in 70s, here. I do Love hearing this again! I miss those days! Were great times! ❤
Turning 70 yoa here: “We like what we like and we don’t know what we don’t know.” There is so much wonderful stuff that has been created, enjoyed, and forgotten, this music, ice cream in a ziplock bag, peanut butter chocolate cake (my favorite)…I wish everyone had access to things like the “Billboard Top 100” from their beginning broadcasts on the radio. More excellent music there than you can imagine. I think that after this mile marker birthday, I’ll choose to be 69 again, then 68, and so on, until the 70’s music is what I hear on the radio in my old Jeep! The internet can be a good thing, sometimes. Do check out the Van McCoy original video though. And keep going! Knowledge is power. Get some.

It probably wasn't that the seventies were less stressful and less toxic, it's more likely that you were just younger with less stress and toxicity weighing down on you. I always say that, we used to appreciate the little things in life more. I know we were young and more care free, but people in general were more caring. Families were much more united. Technology seperated us. When we had one black and white tv , everyone watched together. Now everyone is on his mobile, tablet or computer. We live in invisible bubbles were we see each other but no really communicating. Life was more affordable, my dad provided for 7 children and wife. Mum took care of all our needs and although she was very busy she found time to play with us or a walk in the countryside during the week. But now to buy a house both parents have to work until they are pensioners. Young couples cannot afford to help their aging parents, and after a lifetime of giving most elders end up with strangers in a residence for the old. Mum was bedridden the last 3 years of her life but we took care of her at home. She herself helped her mum for 20 years. We need to go back to a time when life was more meaningful.

Seriously, the impact Araki had on the music taste of young people these past few decades cannot be underestimated. How many songs referenced by stands blew you away the first time you heard them? All these new genres or bands you got into after just listening to that one song Araki hand-picked for his readers. Thank you Araki

Well if you've heard most most songs that Araki mentions because of Jojo then sorry to say you're absolutely uncultured...most of the songs and bands that Araki mention are fairly popular to downright legends in the music industry. Also the impact Araki had is having braindead idiots ruining every comment section of the song he mentions...

I was a little girl back in the 70's, ( I was born in 1968), but I remember it as a fun decade. Sure, the 70's had its ups and downs like any decade, but back then, TV shows were better, music was better, films were better, and dancing was better. The Hustle is one of my favorites. I can't dance, but it's fun watching people dance to this popular disco tune. If only we could go back to the good old days! Like I said, the 70's had it's ups and downs, but it was way better than the times we're living in now. I miss those days.

Van McCoy was a DC native and I was hired to spend the day photographing Van as he was honored by the city on “Van McCoy Day”. We went to record shops, clubs and the Mayor’s office where he presented Mayor Washington with a Platinum Record. Van was presented the Keys To The City by Mayor Walter E. Washington. Van and I became friends because he liked my work and the way I stayed out of the way while I was doing it. He hired me to do many assignments that year including concerts featuring Melba Moore, his concerts and even private family gathering in his DC home whenever he came to town. On New Year’s Eve 1977, my wife and I drove up to Englewood NJ to meet with Van so I could go into NYC to the Power Station Recording Studio as he put the finishing touches on his new album. Then we prepared to spend the weekend shooting his new album cover for MCA Records, his new record label. After the ball dropped on the New Year, we left the studio, drove to Englewood and dropped by the “Wicket Wilson Pickett’s” house in Englewood, NJ to continue to bring in the New Year. I couldn’t believe my wife and I were actually going to meet Wilson Pickett. We played pool, Van played Wilson Pickett’s piano and we had a ball just hanging out. For a guy just beginning to make a name for myself in the entrainment industry with my cameras, this was like a dream to me and my wife who had celebrated our 3rd wedding anniversary that April. Afterwards, we went on to Van’s and finish the album cover shoot for the “My Favorite Fantasy” album. What Van did for me and my career and family continued to be a fairytale but you’ll have to wait to read that part of my story next month in my upcoming Apple Book photo documentary “Unexpected Access” which I take you on a photographic journey behind the scenes and on stage as I covered some of the most iconic artists of the 70’s. At 72, I still pinch myself. Thank you Van McCoy!
Brought back loads of brilliant memories ❤️ love this song
