Van Life - Young Woman Living in a Van as Full-Time Tiny Home
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
Clarissa has been living full-time in her retro 80's camper van for 2 years and she's giving us a full tour of her van, and telling us what she loves and struggles with while living in such a small, mobile home.
You can follow Clarissa on Instagram here:
clarissakiing
And we want to say a huge thank you to Paul Dussault for filming this video:
pauldussault
Clarissa is currently living in a 1983 Dodge Ram Roadtrek II that she bought for $5,000 CAD.
It has a propane furnace, stovetop and fridge, and she has an auxiliary battery that powers her lights, furnace fan, and water pump. There's also a porta potti toilet in the closet but there is no shower on board.
After a few months of traveling in her van across Canada, Clarissa had to settle down in one place to get a job and so she's currently working two jobs on the West Coast of Canada and she travels on weekends and whenever she has some extra free time.
While living in a van isn't currently helping her save money because she eats out & goes out quite a bit, she admits that it would be easy to do for someone who has that kind of goal.
Thanks for watching!
Mat & Danielle

I felt so sad when she said she was recovering from surgery by herself in the van. She is working 2 jobs 6 days a week so definately not a trust fund chick. And not a degenerate as some have said whatever that means. She is young, unattached and likes her freedom so she is happy. Kudos to her.

I agree 100%! She is real and I'm so glad for her that she's using these amazing years in her life to live this way! I would have done it myself if it was a thing when I was her age. The hippies weren't around anymore unless you followed The Grateful Dead, which happened to be my first concert btw. I guess I could have, but it just wasn't conducive to my lifestyle then. I will say though that I longed for something different and I used to say that if I could get far enough away from society that you would have to use a helicopter to get to me, I would! I'm getting closer to retirement and just bought a van, but it has to serve as a work van for my husband right now. We are however, looking into cargo trailers to build into a home or possibly buying a camper to live in. One way or another, I will finally get to live and travel with my husband and 2 dogs and 2 cats. I look forward to it! I hope Clarissa has all the wonderful things she hopes for in her life! She's a go getter and I have a feeling she's gonna have a great life!

I wish I could do the van life, but, I'm married and retired, and my wife would have nothing to do with this lifestyle! So I fulfill my dream by watching you. Thank you so much for completing my dream by your van living!

It’s good to see an independent young adult doing what she wants to, enjoying her youth and freedom before settling down. Bless you & I wish you safe travels from the UK
Very cool. I had a dodge and lived in it for a year after losing everything in my late 40s. The beach was my home and it was a great experience for a year. Makes you realize that no matter what you can survive and have fun every day taking a new adventure.
She needs her own channel. Guaranteed millions of followers in less than a week. No more 2 jobs for this wonderful young lady.

@@charlotte7657 is that how you describe crazy life?
@charlotte7657
4 жыл бұрын
@@iniadekurniawan she literally said "go crazy IN life" which often means trying unorthodox things. Living in a van is a "crazy" idea to some. Travelling for weeks/months/years on end and not having a set home address or guaranteed plumbing/electrics is "crazy" to some. Travelling can include skydiving/parachuting/exploring dangerous roads, that is "crazy" to some. Not having a 'traditional' lifestyle is "crazy" to some. Thrillseeking and seeking out extreme sports to try is "crazy" to some. Even uprooting your entire life to move to another side of the country/another country/another continent to see if you 'like' it is "crazy" to some. Dropping out of a "stable" or "safe", "well paid" job/career to try something different or less financially secure because you want to, is "crazy" to some. So yeah, it is what I describe as a "crazy life" because it encompasses so many things.

Charlotte I think Inia interpreted it as screwing around with a bunch of different people.
I've just come across this video, and I found her to be one of the most honest and straightforward van lifers yet. She makes a point about being able to effect repairs and expecting repairs to be necessary that everyone who's considering moving into a van should think about. She mentioned leaking skylights and worrying about mold forming, about a heater that isn't working, a water pump that isn't working, and so on. She deserves a lot of credit for trying to make this work for her. I can relate to being alone recuperating from surgery, and I had the benefit of being in a larger space. Thank you for sharing your home and your life with us.
Oh yeah very simple lifestyle. She has a strong personality. Take care and god bless
I did van life and sailboat life. Van life can feel like you dont be long in a place especially when you cant find a place to sleep. It's really not as glamorous as everyone makes it sound.

You are amazing! Your not waiting for some nonsense relationship to help you live your life, not dependent on your parents for your financial support, working and building that resume, exploring is part of your adventure, I bought about three weeks ago an oldie but goodie too, 2004 Ford E-250 conversion van, its been so hard to figure out where and what to do with this thing. So stressed about the money I'm spending and I'm 58 years old, your doing just fine. Soon as this van is put together I will be exploring US and trying to figure out what is next...I wish you nothing but the best in your future travels. Sharing this video with my 24 year old daughter, this will inspire her too! Take care.
Every point she mentioned is very valid. And all the struggles, real! A lot of folks get into this lifestyle without being critical about downsides and how restrictive it can be to live smaller than they’re used to! Awesome video. You can truly feel her authenticity through her honesty.
