Van Life From Mess To Yes | Completely Changing Everything Inside My Van

Van Life From Mess To Yes | Completely Changing Everything Inside My Van
When it comes to things in the van things are always changing and as they change they evolve into a more permanent placement which works better for the bigger picture. Being able to have a layout which can be changed at will has been such a helpful aspect of starting out with a no build van build and continues to be something which allows me to grow and change on the road.

Velcro straps for cords. Ziploc bags, plastic pencil boxes or travel soap containers to help keep small things organized. I really like the smaller black boxes you got at Walmart I'll be checking on them thinking it would be a nice place for keeping all the sharp knives for tent camping

Bungies! Use bungies and magnets to string up paper towels, toilet paper and hang unmentionables inside instead of outside. String up with magnets and use clothes pins to hold zip locks for storage of toiletries and kitchen supplies...😘

Honestly I like the silver storage system but I think if you removed that you could probably get more storage and take up less floor space but I really find your videos interesting and appreciate you taking things through and why. If it works for you then that's all that matters

IDEA: they make a shower curtain rod that is adjustable, could you put your black curtains on that and use the small bungie cords with the balls at the end to tie back your curtains during the day?

Bunny two ideas to share heavier clothing items can be put into a zippered pillow cover and decorate the bed. By your front door a small slim waste bin down next to the shelving velcroed to the floor with a bin liner bungied in to take your shoes off and put in to keep the floor clean also for an umbrella. Your van is amazing!! Love your content and have been binge watching. Stay safe and continue to have awesome adventures! Thanks for bringing us along. ☺️💗🐰

To address your issues with the adhesive Velcro and curtain... leave the Velcro up without the curtain. the adhesive needs time to connect properly to the surface. the curtain isn't allowing this because it has a drag from the get go. Let the adhesive settle before using the curtain. I know hundred degree temps will still give you issues (I'm an Okie neighbor, its 110 today)... I KNOW! but... I also work for a large craft store and I know these products. Give the adhesive time to settle into the fabric before hanging the curtain. My only other solution would be to tack the Velcro to the bulk head with a staple gun. I hope it helps.

Hi Bunny. Do you plan to insulate your van? I think even using cardboard would make a huge difference. Maybe even cover the cardboard with pretty patterned, or the wood look contact paper. Keeping your jugs of water in a tub of some kind would be a great idea - to protect from any pressure points or punctures, and to contain any possible leaks. Have fun and stay safe!

  • @BunnyPlaysHere

No I do not intend at this time to add insulation at all it cuts into head space if done properly and at this time I value the space more.

Lol I always try to share the process and sometimes it combines those two factors in such an interesting way because that is the reality of being in a van… A lot of times people don’t want you to see all of their dirty and they’re gross because they only want you to see the pretty but this is the actuality of what happens on the road and how you have to go through it to get to it

If you're really happy with the way the industrial velcro looks on your van and you want it up there permanently I would go with some good old-fashioned gorilla glue in the spots that stickiness on the velcro starts to come off that's what I would do

I had to exchange my Vatid because it was just cutting off randomly. I do love how fast it charges. You could try using some rip cord across the front to put your curtain on and you'd only have to secure it in 2 places. I have two curtains that are thermal from Walmart and, boy, do they make a HUGE difference! I love the idea of smaller rugs where did you get those? I use the same oxygen cuz I get altitude sickness. I have so many cords I don't even know what most of them go to anymore. I'm gonna use your labeling idea but what I'm gonna do is put the different types of cords into the pencil cases w the 3 ring that they have at Dollar Tree and then put them into a binder...

I'm using flexible bendable ceiling curtain track (that's the search term) in my shuttle bus. It may be a little more permanent than what you're looking for but I'm happy with it. I mounted it first with construction glue and then screwed it into place. It's holding up heavy full length brocade curtains in front of my bed and lighter weight privacy curtains behind the cab area. Found the track on Amazon (of course).

WOW - all of your hard work certainly paid off - the van looks excellent and I’m thinking you’ll love the changes you’ve made! Added benefit to a big overhaul like this is taking full inventory of what you have One thought to maybe help with all of your cords… stow the smaller ones in empty toilet paper tubes upright in your case with labels at top of tube so you don’t have so much to rifle through. I’m looking forward to tagging along on your next adventure. Safe travels 🌞❤️

I have been traveling in my minivan for about 18 months when I am not working. I live in the panhandle of Florida and it is hot and swampy most of the time. I have had a hell of a time with anything velcro or plastic. The heat just melts and miss shapes everything. Anyways, I put a boot try from Walmart under my fridge to allow it to slide out better and (God forbid) catch any drips before they were to become an issue. I have taken everything out and started over 3 different times trying to find the best solutions. The best one for me, is always the one that works right now. Life changes, and so will my van. Have a great trip!

Hey Bunny. Let me begin by saying I really enjoy watching your videos. You are very inspiring and I love your upbeat personality. But concerning your Velcro issues to keep it in place in the heat take a stapler and put a couple staples in about a foot apart. The staples won’t be big enough to mess up the roof liner and it’ll hold the Velcro in place. Hope it works for you. Be safe out on the road.

You might consider getting double-sided velcro. No glue... works really well! Also, the metal tie down that is in the back holding your rack, your water jug was sitting on. Possible "rub" spot contributing to leaks. May not have caused the large container leak, but the smaller jugs having thinner plastic which might be more easily rubbed. Just a thought I noticed when you were showing the setup, about 19:48-49 minutes on the video. Love the rugs

That was a great redo! I really enjoyed watching your process of figuring things out and love that you share tips and the products you use. I also enjoy when you share your trips to Walmart! Looking forward to your PNW adventures!

One of the things that I learned along the way is that it doesn’t always have to be super expensive or completely built. Along the way I have change things move things modified things and found simple ways to adjust my space so that it better fit in accommodates my knees. I encourage everyone to do this because it is something that is much more attainable for the average person to start out and so there’s less hesitation and getting started.

I have a battery powered vest, still planning to get the socks and gloves also, I think the jacket and pants may be too much for me, thank you for this video, I'm building a home-made trailer and all the storage ideas are great.

Great video. Not sure if you would want to screw into the van, but metal RV curtain track would fix the curtain hanging issues. And the curtain would roll back out of the way, wouldn't have to take down and put back up.

I have looked into a small track system which would be attached to the interior ribs of the van but there are a lot of positive and negative reviews about it... so i will be continuing to talk to those who have done this to see if there is a way i could avoid headache in doing so.

Also buy shower curtains the heavy duty plastic ones cause to keep your windshield from freezing spray it with rubbing alcohol. The cut your shower curtain in half and every night place half of that shower curtain over your windshield. This way you will never have to scrape your windshield. Also buy paper plates and cups and induction cook plate.

My input try this ad a rack to your van. Install a locked storage unit on that rack. Make sure you can lock it. Then install a foldout rotating tent. This kind of. Camping living setup is awesome for campfires and rainy night. Plus you will have your storage problems solved.

Ps, crack your window just a bit & keep your intake hose INSIDE the van, far easier to cool old pre- cooled air than cooling old hot air right next to your exhaust. Ps van looks great!

Bunny I put up a tension shower rod to hang my curtain between the cab area and the back in my Transit. It has worked out much better than the velcro which I tried first.

Go get a sheet of styrofoam, cut to fit behind driver seat,, cover it with paint, fabric or whatever,, use it as a sticker wall. Very low weight & can be your art wall on the cheap adding just a bit of temperature & light control.

CURTAIN: Hey Bunny. Here is what I did to attach my curtain. I bought an inch or so wide length of aluminum that was strong enough to maintain a shape, but still bendable, while holding the curtain. I started by sliding the end of the aluminum into the space right above where you put your Velcro. I bent the aluminum to fit the shape of the overhead and slid the other end into the space above the drivers side opposite where I started. Once I had the aluminum strip shaped to fit the overhead, I took one end out of the space it was slid into and put the curtain on the strip, then put it back into place and then did the other side. I too bought the same curtains from Walmart. I don’t remove one like you want too, but I clip it up near the overhead where I need it during the day. I can also slide one over to the wall so no need to remove it. I can send photos if needed.

The grab and go extra cords curl them. Take pencil wrap cord tightly around the pencil leaving 1-2 in near ends to keep from bend and breaking. Using hot setting on hair dryer 3-5, minutes. Now you have curly cords stretchy Add to the Hook and latch give it 48 hrs before attaching the weight of the curtain Why not hand your hats from your ceiling where your spices use to be.

Yes, do a follow-up on your Jackery 1000. Maybe after you do the other power station reviews at the end, or as a final summery episode with all of them briefly if you do those one at a time.
