You know what would have really improved this movie? Replacing Friar Carl with a predecessor who gets killed in the 2nd/3rd act by Hyde. That would have raised the stakes in both movies, added some emotional depth, and fixed the continuity.

Hugh Jackman got better in voice acting when he voiced Aster E Bunnymund the Easter bunny from the movie Rise of the Guardians.

Doesn't surprise me. I'm still convinced the script for Van Helsing started off as a "Castlevania" movie.

Seems no one has mentioned this so the whole Queen Victoria connection is that Jekyll/Hyde is clearly meant to be Jack the Ripper here and one of the popular theories behind Jack is that he was the Queen's personal physician William Withey Gull, a theory that (spoiler alert) made it to the screen just three years before in From Hell.

It's no less silly than the Jack the Rippers in Batman: Gotham by Gaslight, which is far superior to Van Helsing: The London Project, Time After Time, where H.G. Wells had a real time machine to chase Jack the Ripper to the future, or in the SyFy show, Sanctuary, where Jack the Ripper was revealed as one of the suspects, John Montague Druitt, who had also gained the ability to teleport.

In the movie, it seemed more like they were trying to turn Van Helsing into a bad amalgamation of Simon Belmont and Hellboy, but here they're clearly just ripping off Batman. >__ Oh, and of course they keep trying to turn Hyde into the Hulk for some reason.

I was under the assumption that they had met [Van helsing and Carl] but Carl said i’m not a field man. So he had been on assignment before, let alone preforming fairly well.

I've been watching your backlog of reviews.... and, Well done! I have a suggestion for viewing pleasure as opposed to a review request, GIve "Bad Taste" by Peter Jackson ( yes that Peter) a go. Ensure you've gone to the loo and have paper towels handy. I think they call it a DARK COMEDY scifi horror film. I found it to be hilarious. SO when the sequel reviews get too much, give this a go to "cleanse the palet" CHeers and thanx mate.

Tbf Jekyll is arguably just as evil as Hyde (if not more) in the original book. Jekyll creates Hyde on purpose so he can commit evil acts without facing the consequences.

Have you ever played the Van Helsing video game on PS2 and Xbox? Because it's a fun Devil May Cry meets Castlevania game.

Why not just...have Mr Hyde be the animalistic brute that did what he wanted because he wanted to, like in the movie? They could’ve expanded on that even. At the very least, they could’ve shown more of Dr Jekyll and how the potion has taken its toll on him. This could’ve delved into some freaky deaky psychological horror, and van helsing could’ve attempted to help. Keye word: attempted, this is a prequel after all. BUT FRANKLY, honestly, I’d rather see the origins of victor and how he got involved with Dracula.

Really shouldn't get mad that they use recognizable landmarks from London to show the story is taking place in London. Just about every writer, when they are making a story set in a major city will show famous landmarks within that city. Everything else, you're spot on, but this is a trick writers use to add flavor to the story and give it some kind of authenticity. Of course, in this case it goes right out the window when there was a giant hell scape filled with fire and brimstone right under London.

the tomb raider movies need to be uploaded but they get more copyright flags then anything else theres also police story 1 and 2 again have the same problem

I mean he's got a base for being a cool action hero in a gothic horror setting. P.S. I love your H.P Lovecraft series, it's what introduced me to your channel. Great work, it's rare to find a review channel that's both funny and objective.

Maybe the cross and holy water work because Jekyll is tainted by evil, since he was extracting people's souls, still, it is a very flimsy excuse and derails Jekyll's character completely, it is also contradictory to the movie itself, one question though: what, why does Victoria say We Are Not Amused? (i am legitimaly curious)

TheSpawnfan I mean just think about it, if it works at some darkspawn. Why wouldnt it work on other darkspawn? What on a metaphysical level is the difference between a vampire and Mister Hide? On another side note, why would Gods cross offer protection against vampires But not werewolves for example. Theyre to feral for God to consider them worth his effort?

Legends don't always make sense, Hide shouldn't be affected because his condition was created by alchemy, not some unholy condition, like the vampires, as for werewolves maybe it's because they aren't really evil, but have no control over their curse, unlike vampires, that are generally presented as evil

Didn't men dress up as women pretty commonly in that era? Specifically actors in plays, since they thought women didn't make good actors.

Do Terminator Salvation, as well as the Machinima Series and play the video game, each of them has a story, because this is the one to follow after T3. Compared to TSCC, T5 and T6 to follow after T2 are the screw up retcons.

I've never seen this one. However, I did love the first one, this never really seemed worth my time.

This was a failed Batman: The Animated Series episode, or so it seems. (Also I'm going to punch myself for even saying that condemned shit joke of mine)

At least the theme rocked, silver linings eh

Some of it looks nice, but the stupidity of the original is weighing it down. And I really wish that they would stop doing this crap lets take the animated Blade tv series that was made in Japan some years ago, again it looks amazing but it's pretty damn stupid just the same, since the japanese animators turned Blade into a block of wood that simply doesn't have any of Wesley Snipes energy or charisma.
