I know Millenials and Zoomers will never understand but when Van Halen came to your town for a concert there was a buzz in the air --- we didn't have Internet and smartphones back then to distract us and consume our attention --- all we had was hanging out with good friends and sharing some laughs and enjoying good music! Van Halen provided the soundtrack for our lives in the 80's and it was all we really needed. So go ahead and laugh but all us Gen X'ers who grew up in that decade really, really miss it.

Today's young females go ga ga over Taylor Swift. They all sing in unison at her concerts and there's a million cell phones at the same time. There will never be another Van Halen. But, Sammy Hagar and Mike Anthony, who are in this video are touring this July and August to celebrate Van Halen and are playing more VH songs. This is your chance to see and hear a part of Van Halen live again. Or should I say Van Hagar.

When the house lights went out and eddie had the guitar in his hand, there was always this loud roar as if Eddie was saying “I’m here with you right now”, I cannot describe it but he put all his energy into that sound onstage. He was my hero and I met him twice, once after making a comment about his amp he heard me and asked me to check them out. The second time he walked into his Limo past me and my cousin in a wheelchair, then he realized we were there came back on one knee and hugged him so close and gave us a little chat flannel shirt cigarette in his mouth and giant smile. I met Alex and Sammy briefly who were down to Earth and spent two hours with Michael who hosted fans while the crew loaded gear just incredibly down to Earth as it gets. ❤

I've never been a confrontational guy or had to call out people who were bullshitters, so I was like "cool your lucky" and blew it off and didn't think much more of it. Then I went to his house, his bedroom was amazing. It was like a small museum of Van Halen memorabilia and gear. A bunch of 8X10 signed pictures, guitars, beat up drumsticks, picks, banners, flags, t-shirts microphones, mic stands, etc. etc. etc. He wasn't full of shit.

O.k. let's see here I was a junior in high school when this was filmed , I was in the third phase of my mullet hair cut ( spikey ) , I was not thrilled with the ' 1984 ' Van Halen album , I actually cried when I heard the key board intro to ' Jump ', I was like " NO-NO-NO - WHAT THE FUCK !!! "...It was hilarious !...

Rochester? Sounded like Sammy said this was Rochester (NY). Cool video. With a little bit of Led Zep, and some Cream in there, too.

notice eddie knew all the standard zep, cream and hendrix riffs, he drew from a very deep well when he developed his own style.
