I was watching behind the glass. Friend won a radio contest to fly and see them do this show. I headed to the can during a break and so did Eddie, he sort of jogged right before me as we went in. When we were standing in the urinals next to each other I told him I was going to tell everyone about this, and I have lol. When we finished washing our hands I asked if I could see how big his hands were to mine. His were so much larger than mine as we put them together to see. He was so very nice and friendly to me, a star struck fan. He and Alex posed with my friend and I for pictures afterward and they sent them to us later. Really awesome and very wonderful, thank you Eddie!

Eeewwwww! Lol. This story has all kinds of cringe factor, I’m sorry. Always great to speak with someone with their literal dick in their hands...and, to touch and measure hands 🙌 after taking a piss, is just pure gold! Lol. Or, should I say, piss yellow. Thanks for creeping me the fuck out. 🥴

Listened to this live. I graduated in 1993 and this was when i was 19 or 20. I recorded this on cassette. I was just finally getting cd's in 1995. 5150 was a mystery place and Hollywood, Bands, etc. was unreachable to many outside of that area. No social media yet. You'd have to get lucky to win a radio station contest to get backstage and even then you may not meet someone like VH. MTV roadrules was on season 1. Reality tv had just began. Alternative music had taken over and only legacy acts like VH, Aerosmith, BonJovi, Eagles, Fleetwood Mac were surviving. This is why Balance was a dark, stripped down raw version of VH. VH had actually leaned in to this with the F.U.C.K. Album with the less rock star hair, less glam, raw drum sound and heavy music. More serious lyrics besides the teenage boy bait of "Poundcake". VH would be about sobriety, hip surgery's, neck surgery, and cancer hasn't stricken Ed yet. Short hair on Ed for balance. Dry guitar tone. The guitar solo on Big Fat Money was almost jazz. Feeling was a strange wicked song with a fast jam. "Don't Tell Me" had a gritty, pick scraping grinding guitar rhythm that was nasty and heavy. Loved it. Seventh Seal was badass. Aftershock was clean and gritty at same time. The ballad "Not Enough" was played by VH on Letterman's show. Amsterdam was welcomed as the VH brothers motherland tune. Great playing...silly lyrics. Al had an interesting drum groove in that song intro. This was the end of the showy rock and the beginning of being serious.

Lol! I was privileged to ask him a question at time mark 07:39 So nervous! Couldn’t believe I asked the most GENERIC QUESTION OF ALL TIME!! But thanks to Red, he made Eddie elaborate more and got that hilarious comment from Alex! I have this whole show on cassette but it’s so awesome to have it on KZread too!

Thank you so much for posting this, although the intro, the DJ, and commercial breaks remind me of why I like podcasts. Speaking of podcasts, what would it have been like if Eddie went on JRE?
