Absolutely. Saw them in Las Cruces, NM for their 5150 tour. Happy for the memories. 55 yr old man and I can still feel these moments.

Let’s not forget how talented Sammy Hagar is on his guitar, not missing a verse, cord, all whilst fronting the band! His solo is perfect, because Ed gives him a smile!❤❤❤

Sammy has said Eddie generally wouldn't let home play guitar. The exceptions were this song (sometimes) and original Sammy Hagar songs like 55, I've Done Everything for You, etc. when they played them.

Indeed. Eddie was more and more into synthesizer then and someone still needed to do lead vocals but lead guitar was still required. Michael Anthony on bass with great backup vocals. Really good band with Haggar....just different.

I’m 50. This is the best version of this song by far and it’s live. The studio version was indoors, dubbed and Eddie played both guitar and keyboard. Not here. So awesome. Hysteria by DL and this song are my favorites but now that I found this version there might be a best now. Wow. I wish I was there. The 80’s kicked ass.

I feel the same about the Van Hagar era. DLR was too flamboyant, but Sammy was just a regular guy with a voice that just seemed like it was made to be a part of VH, which catapulted him into being as well known as he's become. My kids didn't even know he was a solo artist prior to joining Van Halen.

Sammy does a pretty darn good job on this one on guitar , his voice is always impressive!!...

A buddy of mine saw these guys in concert when sammy was with them. He said it was one of the best shows hes seen in his life.

The most incredible part of the song is when Eddie and Alex just smile and jump even deeper into the groove that Sammy I laying down. I don't think that they ever had that magic with Roth. Priceless.

Imagine replacing one of the 70's-80's most iconic singers and then playing a killer guitar solo in front of the guy that changed the rock scene by his guitar skills. This song is still one of my favorites!

Maybe I’m just ignorant but I always thought Sammy doesn’t get enough recognition for being a pretty excellent guitarist, especially when he’s playing in a band with one of the greatest guitarists of all time. Love this song, love this band.

According to what I've heard, he was playing piano before he ever played a guitar.

We were living in a Golden Age in entertainment, for those of us in the 1980s. Never knew it. Took it for granted. Thought it would keep going. Music, TV, videos, video games, design...yep, those were the days. That period between about 1984 - 1987 was, arguably, the peak.

it was a great time. In the 80's I finished grade school, went to high school and finished college in 1990. My entire formative years were spent in the 80's. I love hockey, even in the 80's up to mid 90's, it was the best. Everything is far too corporate and the little guy has been left behind.

@@yrmthr AB-so-LUTELY !!! People forget that Sammy _was_ the lead guitarist in Montrose back in the '70s. I saw him as a solo act, opening for ZZ Top back in' 83. He & his band were amazing, and I enjoyed his set as much or even more than ZZ's. 😎 I then saw him with VH in '86, I believe literally a couple days after the concert this video was excerpted from (this concert was New Haven, CT; my friends and I caught them in Worcester, MA). VH was incredible with Sammy. For "Ain't Talkin Bout Love", Sammy went to the top of a ~100-foot scaffolding on the stage 😱 ("I've been to the edge, and there I stood and looked down..."). INDEED ! 🤣

I think this is one of the best VH songs of all time. Just like with the Eagles, some of my favorite things about Van Halen are the background vocals and this song is one of them. I know Eddie could sure be a stubborn jerk sometimes, but man was he talented and he is so missed.

I’m 51. I was 16 when this song came out. I remember seeing video on MTV over at a friends house. Little did I know back then what it means today. I play this song on the daily because it reminds me of when I was young. It brings a smile to my face every time I play it and watch this video. Sammy is so good on that guitar. My man! :)

Flawless performance. When Sammy was on, he was in a league of very few vocally. Rock legend. Van Halen as a band did the unthinkable. They were huge with Roth and replaced him with Sammy and became huge again. That is an almost impossible achivement. They were just that freaking good.

How can beat this? You get a guy that has his ego under control , brings harmony to the band, can play the guitar, sing, and bring the same energy as the other members. The rest of the guys are beaming with happiness.

This is simply a masterpiece...

Best version of this song ... what a versatile band it was ... Sammy killing on that red guitar! Also my first VH song ... back in 1987 in a small college town in northwestern Bangladesh. I was lucky I guess ... finding that mix cassette tape ... changed rock music for me forever!

While all you ppl commenting talking about how talented Sammy’s vocals and guitar playing is your are SO RIGHT ! That being said let us not forget that he also wrote the incredible lyrics to this song ! I LOVE Roth in his day too but the SAMMY YEARS HAVE THEIR OWN SPECIAL MAGIC !! Dude, exactly the same for me. We are the same age. I remember hearing VH for the first time at some kids swim party, and immediately thinking,’The lead singers name is Van Halen? And they just did a debut album, but right after that, put out another? Whoa.’ Then, the summer of 86 hit. I was 16, patiently waiting for summer practice to start before becoming a freshman. My life consisted of talking on the phone all day, eating bologna sandwiches, learning how to play 5+ drum cadences, field show, street marching, and 5150 album. It seemed like it was just on a constant loop that Summer. The Cure Japanese Whispers and VH 5150. Fast fwd two years, that July I went to my first concert, performed for two presidents, played at the first game of the World Series. But that concert …I fell in love that day, and I’ve been in love since with Sam, Ed,Alex & Mikie. Monsters of Rock @ LA Coliseum. 🤘🏼

Sammy has always been Van Halens best lead singer.

Love the look Eddie gives Sammy while he plays guitar. Like you go Sammy lol. What a great band.

Rip Eddie! This song and this version in particular is the best purest representation of Van Halen in the sammy years! They all appear in form and in their prime! Well done boys! Regardless of the vocalist in this band,irreplaceable song writing and guitar style of EVH can never be replicated and should not be replaced! RIP LEGEND!

They started to sound more like Journey with Hagar.

Love all four of these guys. Epic lineup. So lucky to have seen them mid 90’s. Perfect show. EVH was one more gift from God. Hang in there Wolfe and Alex. Love from South Carolina!

So Correctly said Madam.Eddie.Sammy.Alex & Mike not forgetting David Lee Roth.I feel Eddie in my Dreams he is all over my Life's best spent time 1987 to 1996. Those Golden Days will never ever comeback.God Bless.

This song as such always makes me feel emotional and affected me even back in the 90's when I first discovered Van Halen. But today it makes me tear up even more because Eddie Van Halen is so missed and I can't stop thinking about him. I can't stop listening to his music. There will never be another like King Ed.

I'm a 60 year old singer, past his prime, and i used to be able to sing all their highest songs. But when i listen to them play, especially with Sammy, it makes me tear up. So, so, so, so good. 😪 rip Eddie. One of the very best talents in the history of rock.

Who is giving this song a thumbs down?? One of the best that will ever be made.

37 years old and im 55 there will never be better music and times in my life , will listen to the 80s till i die .

5150 was and always will be my favorite album of theirs!! Every track was a masterpiece!

This is Van Halen on the mountain top of Rock n Roll....a group like this will not pass our way again...ever...

Been watching a lot of this era Van Halen again, craving those days again. I remember going 3 nights in a row, to see them on their first tour together. I was so unbelievably happy Sammy had joined, and they made history. I was at their last tour, and what was originally magic, had become sad and uncomfortable. I wish it had ended differently. RIP Eddie

Sammy is a great singer, and Michael Anthony is awesome vocalist too! EVH was a talented guitarist and keyboardist , RIP, and AVHs drumming and his signature drum sound is unmistakable! Thank you gentlemen for all the great music!

I saw Van Halen with Jefferson Starship at Hirsch Memorial Coliseum in Shreveport, Louisiana in 1978. It was difficult to believe what I was seeing and hearing, live and right in front of me. These were people, musicians performing, live and so close to me. I had only seen them on television. It's just hard to explain, with words, the feeling and lasting impression it made upon me for the rest of my life, and the feeling is just as real, in this moment, as was in the moment it actually occurred. ❤️🤗✌️🛐🏆

Sammy was the perfect choice for both lead vocals and his old-school guitar playing. Saw him in the pre-VH era when he led his own band on hits like “Heavy Metal” and “I can’t drive 55”. 😎🇺🇸🎤🎸

We witnessed greatness and perfection here. Van Halen changed my life. I love my boys and their heart stopping harmony.

Sammy is solid on lead guitar, however, Eddie is a legend for a reason. His rifs are unmatched. That said, Sammy pulling that off while singing better than I've ever heard him..... priceless . Thx youtube.

I think I love this even more than the studio version. So great!!! Eddie was such a great/underrated keyboard/piano player. I miss him.

Look at the smiles on Alex and Eddies faces! Listen to Sammys vocals! Mikeys crazy incredible harmony notes! THIS was the highwater mark for Van Halen my friends,, hitting on all cylinders, happy and cranking out the best rock ever. Those of us who were young and grew up with this had no idea just how good we had it at the time,, we witnessed lightning in a bottle. RIP Eddie,,, thanks for everything.

We did not know at the time how good we had it. Hard to even explain to my children how awesome all of this was. In fact my older daughter only listens to this era and she’s 18. She loves it all.

Feel like a personal loss and sammy is really the only way to rock the world the van halen way whether you like it or not you gotta love it!!! Thanks for everything you did for us boys,what a time to be alive, never gonna get over this because someone like EVH and SH or DLR should never be taken for granted or ever forgotten because there will never be anyone like them ever again!

There will never be another band like Van Halen. Whether it was with Roth or Hagar. Michael And Eddie always had those great harmonies. Eddie was always smiling, R.I.P. good sir. 🤘🤘

There’s no current group with the sound and capabilities that VH had during this time period with Sammy. Unbelievable tightness in the sound.

RiP Eddie. You are forever in our Hearts. Thank you for the Assistance memories.

Im 53 and this song brings me back to some good memories in the 80's.
