@@RichardMLowe I like that sentiment. Thanks for the encouragement, man. Of course that figure is a joke. But there are many of us with some musical talent and with support, we could do something major. I don't like the music that's been coming out for almost three decades. My policy is: make something great as the classics or better or don't put it out as a big album release.

Look at Ray Charles for instance then look at Buckingham Nicks/Fleetwood Mac and look at Jimi Hendrix and B.B. King then look at Mel Waiters and Snoop Dogg There's a lot we can learn and understand from these people SRV/Stevie Ray Vaughn and Led Zeppelin Jimmy Page and Eric Clapton I mean there's a multitude of music made by people who made a mark on society that is indelible to how we react towards it .... It’s highly possible that this could have been a catalyst for a pattern towards success which has yet to bare its full bounty of fruit. While many who were young enough to see this video as a kid played Guitar Hero on a game console, this individual actually learned an instrument. I have no doubt that if you can play any Eddie Van Halen song in its entirety, you can play some more music and bring enjoyment to others. REMEMBER THIS DR. This song is so badass. The guitar and drums so aggressive. Sammy's growling vocals. But then...that gorgeous, soaring "shiiiiiine on..." with the classic Van Halen harmony. Just wow. It hits you right in the feels. Eddie's solo is so emotional, building up into this angrysadbeautiful peak, and then BAM they dive back into the verse grind. Such a damn good song.

@@MsChiknnugget1751 Coming back for a listen after your reading your comment. The other thing that's so rad about this song is how, in typical Van Halen form, there's no added rhythm guitar sound added during the main solo, because Eddie trusts the simple three-piece sound to be enough. The pre-chorus solos have a little rhythm layering, but when the big solo shows up, it's just Alex, Mike, and Eddie going for it. So cool. Plus...man...that verse riff. It's just so sick.

@@adamwhizbang dude...my dad introduced me to VH. Huge fan. When I was a kid, there were only a handful of artists/records spinning on his turntable. I'm only sad that I never saw Van Hagar live. That is the ensemble that I adore most. After Sammy left, the band just wasn't the same...BUT...when this track came out, it gave me hope. Hope for a reunion of the magic that was once the Van Halen that I grew up listening to. Sounds sappy but I don't care. A true fan will understand.

@@MsChiknnugget1751 I was 13 when "Jump" hit the radio. I'd heard of them, but only the "druggies" in our school wore VH t-shirts, so I hadn't paid them much attention. There was no internet, of course, so if a band wasn't on the radio and you didn't have a record or tape, you had no idea what they were about. When I finally got the 1984 tape, it blew my mind. I went back and got all the '70s and '80s albums. I started listening to hard rock and metal and reading Circus magazine, and wanted nothing more than to play electric guitar. Eddie became my hero and I started trying to emulate him and players like him. When DLR left and Sammy came along, I was skeptical. All I knew of Sammy Hagar was "Your Love Is Driving Me Crazy" and "The Girl Gets Around" from the Footloose motion picture soundtrack, neither of which seemed like legit hard rock. When 5150 dropped, I mostly loved it, but the band's vibe changed. Sammy's lyrics were very earnest, cliche, and a little sappy at times, but man, the guy could sing. I think Sammy really hit his Van Halen stride on For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge which is easily my favorite post-Dave album. I finally saw them play live in the '00s, but that was when Eddie was so drunk he could barely play. It was embarrassing. He ruined the show. I'm so glad he finally got clean. Sad that they never patched things up. I will say that A Different Kind Of Truth has some fantastic songs, but Dave sounded terrible live. The glory days were definitely over. I've recently been going back to old VH songs and trying to learn the guitar parts that stumped me when I was a kid. You can look up tutorials for anything on KZread these days! Back then you just had to listen hard and figure it out!

I think this was the best look for the band in this stage of their career - all black, Eddie rocking a somewhat shorter cut with beard, etc. It's a shame this was the end of one era, and they never really regained it after.
